Dawkins is a smart guy and a great biologist. He is also a terrible, terrible philosopher and has extremely clouded judgement when it comes to questions of theism. Literally every philosopher I know, most of whom are atheist, would agree with what I just said.

The idea that the theory of evolution disproves the existence of God is patently ridiculous.

That video is a creationist hoax. Yea, you fell for a hoax. Congrats.

They cut the video. They lied and told him they were doing a documentary of him and when they asked this question he knew it was a creationist hit piece. He told them to leave at the point the video ends and they begged him to let them continue.

Except that statement is actually true. The other ones you listed aren't.

It's like saying anyone who understands math knows that 2+2=4. There is no debate about evolution. There is just trying to convince creationists that 2 and 2 make 4.

I would post things about evolution but you have ignored all other comments directed specifically at you concerning evolution showing that it would be a waste of time. And even if you did show Dawkins an fool, it does not undermine the theory evolution. You could poke fun of Newton, but gravity is no less undermined, and you frequently make shots at Galileo, but that in no way shows he was wrong about the planets orbiting the sun.

I think Dawkins is a brilliant guy. However, he gets himself into hot water by attacking faith directly as opposed to simply defending evolution. However I suppose you could say it draws more attention to the issue and hopefully he can educate someone on evolution.

I fail to see how attacking the root of the inaccuracies is problematic for Dawkins.

I understand that line of thinking, and I did watch the video and it was well done although I think he dumbed it down a little in order to just find examples that refute Creationism as opposed to explaining evolution but I understand why he did that.

I think Dawkins gets lost in this fight to abolish religion which will never really happen, at least I don't think so. I understand why from his point of view it's bad, especially in the States. It's often used to the advantage of corruption or dictating education which I agree is never a good thing.

I guess when it comes down to it I think if there are people who are religious in whatever faith, like I am, but want to learn more about evolution, like I did, that there should be platform to allow them to take it with them and help resolve this issue with their communities and friends.

What do you mean by a platform? Plenty of religious people accept evolution and don't find that it conflicts with their religious views. There is a simple way to learn all about evolution, and that's through basic science education. Everyone goes through a science class that teaches evolution, it's just a matter of getting children to understand that their religious beliefs do not trump science when it comes to science. This is the problem that science education faces today- many children are so entrenched in their parents' views that they lose the ability to think critically.

Thad, I think if you're going to debate something you need to understand it better than you do right now. Currently you are using logical falllacies and arguments that are either plain wrong or flat out lies (like your OP here.) Learn about Evolution come to understand it and maybe then you can debate it in a way that makes you more convincing.
