Its a strange thing, hearing someone so many years your junior say something so similar to your own thoughts...

and i thanked god for the fire, that showed me love was true.

I took a step into Aggieland,

And my heart felt full and new,

I figured a concrete plan,

Could wait a year or two.

My heart discovered this love,

That it’d been longing to know,

It’s the Spirit of Aggieland,

And it’s effects were quick to show.

Turns out I had lessons to learn,

About friendship, life, and love,

My heart was surely changed,

As the flames reached high above.

My hands were torn and broken,

My body sore and numb,

But my heart was just a beating,

Like a long anticipated drum.

The ashes floated out,

Like angels on the breeze,

I knew that I was different,

Like the autumn leaves.

God saw my heart and smiled,

He reached his hand right down,

And put me where I needed to be,

To help me grow up all around.

He whispered words of selflessness,

Through branches as I worked,

He told me to be strong,

In places where temptation lurked.

And as the days grew shorter,

He wrote companionship on my heart,

I’d found a love called friendship,

That stayed strong even when miles apart.

The air grew crisp and biting,

As raindrops embellished my pot,

And soon insecurities,

Began to wash away from thought.

He told me I was able,

To achieve more than I believed,

And I finally understood him,

As the tree feel and my chest heaved.

He told me I was strong,

When my body tried to stop,

That a battle easily won,

Wasn’t often fought.

He pointed me to beauty,

In a dirt stained face,

He told me the term “pretty”

Lay in those who sought to maintain their pace.

He told me there were rewards,

For those who were hardworking,

That those who let their actions be done in him,

Were rarely left hurting.

And as our conversations continued,

I felt myself made new,

And I thanked God for the fire,

That showed me love was true.
