To those of you who saw Shooter:

Remember the old, overweight senator (played by Ned Beatty) saying this:

"This is a country where the Secretary of Defense can tell the entire country on TV that it's about freedom, not oil. Because it's all a big lie."

This is a silly question, but did anyone think of Gates right when he said Secretary of Defense?

I thought of Rumsfeld, but nevertheless -

It was a good manly popcorn flick. Like a cross between Man on Fire, In the Line of Fire, and a live action version of Ghost Recon. Several great scenes of total badassery!

I thought it was a good movie as well, and I thought that quote was more directed at Rumsfeld.

yeah, it was indeed directed at Rumsfeld. I almost got offended that they were talking s**t about Gates until I realized it was about Rumsfeld.

Hollywood getting in their "jabs" - no surprise.

The Executive Branch is souless and evil when a Republican is in the White House...but glorified when a democrat is in power.

While I lean more toward conservative myself, was that line in the movie really that far off in regards to Rumsfeld. Perhaps I am biased, but Gates is head and shoulders a much better secretary of defense.
