Did you guys see this story? He was shot in a car leaving a concert. The bullet entered his head in the temporal region of his head. Doctors said the glass slowed the bullet enough to keep him from dying.

BTW, I am not really fan of his music but that song "Walking in Memphis" is a good song. I don't know why I like that song, it has a nice sound to it.

They said they removed the bullet that day and he was released soon thereafter. It was a miracle that he lived.

I saw him in Nashville soon after his hit came out (10-12 years ago???). It was either at the Grand Old Opry or the Nashville Now show. Seemed like a pretty good guy for a one-hit wonder.

POSTED: 4:11 pm MDT August 8, 2005

Monday, Aug. 8, 2005 -- The Denver Police Department needs the assistance from the public in locating a suspect identified as Joseph William Yachteen, 3-25-79. Joseph Yachteen is also known to go by the name of Anthony Andolini 3-24-79 . An incident occurred on August 8, 2005 in which Yachteen is suspected of attempting three armed car jackings, two of which were unsuccessful. The vehicle that was taken was a 2005 gold Forrester, Colorado license plate 207KUM. While attempting to car jack a van Yachteen fired one shot into the vehicle, grazing the driver Thomas Dube and striking singer / song writer Mark Cohn in the temple. Both Dube and Cohn were transported to Denver Health Medical Center where they were treated and released.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Joseph William Yachteen, 3-25-79, DPD # 647375, Criminal Attempt 18-2-101 First degree Murder Aggravated Robbery 18-3-101 Class 2 Felony 2 counts, C.R.S. 18-4-304, Aggravated Robbery C.R.S. 81-4-304 a Class 3 FelonyCriminal Attempt Aggravated Robbery C.R.S. 18-4-304 a Class 4 Felony 2 counts Felony Menacing C.R.S. 18-3-206 a Class 5 Felony, seven counts.

On 8-7-05 at 2230 hrs RTD Security Officers received a call of a vehicle on the light rail tracks. When they arrived they observed a 1995 Cadillac, Colorado License Plate # 175LEW Co., parked on the light rail tracks. The vehicle was near the Magnolia Hotel, 818 17th St.

The RTD officers approached the staff of the hotel who informed them that the above listed suspect had tried to pay his bill with a stolen credit card. They further related that the Denver Police Department had been called previously around 1800 hrs. After receiving this information the RTD Officers attempted to make contact with suspect Yachteen. Security Officers asked if he had any identification. He told them he didn’t have any identification and gave the Officers the keys to the vehicle that was on the tracks.

The Officers asked Yachteen to have a seat on the bench in the valet area which is near the light rail tracks. Yachteen was advised that Denver Police were responding. Yachteen took off running on Stout St. towards the 16th St. Mall. The RTD security Officer stayed with the vehicle and proceeded to move the vehicle off of the tracks. The two security officers got onto a light rail train bound for the Convention Center to make sure Yachteen didn’t try to board another train. Not finding the suspect they got off of the light rail at the 14th St. station and began walking back toward the 16th St. Mall on Stout St.

As they left the station they saw Yachteen walking towards the 14th and Stout St. station. They asked him to stop and he ran towards Champa and 15th St. They continued to walk in that direction when they were approached by AT&T Security who stated that the guy running from them had just gone into Tarantulas, a night club. The security officers contacted the door men who told them that Yachteen had ran inside this location a few seconds earlier. The door men told the Security Officer that there was only one rear door and it is alarmed. The Security Officers stood at the door for a few minutes when a bouncer, a drunken Hispanic Male, and the suspect Yachteen emerged from the night club.

The Security Officers told the suspect Yachteen that the police were on the way and attempted to get him to stay. The suspect stated “I’m not going back to jail.” Yachteen produced a silver colored handgun and pointed it at both of the RTD Officers.

The RTD Officers drew their weapons and found cover. The suspect Yachteen ran into the 1400 blk alley of Stout/Champa where he attempted to get into a Chevrolet Impala.

The victim in an interview related that she was in the alley of the 1400 blk Stout/Champa loading her boyfriends vehicle with her belongings, moving from the Bradshaw Hotel at 1445 Stout St. The suspect Yachteen confronted the female and demanded her keys stating “Give me the key.” He yelled this two or three times before producing a silver handgun and pointing it at the her. The gun according to the victim was pointed at her face. Her boyfriend told Yachteen that there were no keys to the vehicle. Yachteen approached the boyfriend.

Yachteen and her boyfriend ran from the area in an attempt to flee the suspect. She could not see either her boyfriend or Yachteen when she heard the shot that was fired.

The RTD Officer followed the suspect into the 1400 blk of Stout St. and saw the suspect attempt to open the door of a Ford van. When the suspect couldn’t get the door open the suspect fired one round into the vehicle and then turned and pointed the weapon at the RTD officer. The officer yelled to Yachteen to drop the weapon but he turned and began to run again.

Victim Thomas Dube, driver of the Ford van first saw Yachteen running down a ramp from a parking structure in the 1400 blk of Stout St. He had a shirt on with “Staff” written on it. Yachteen was gesturing for the van to stop. Dube could see plainly that Yachteen had a gun in his right hand. Dube tried to avoid Yachteen by speeding up and swerving away from him.

Yachteen fired one shot into the van. The shot grazed Dube under the chin and struck Mark Cohn in the right temple. Dube continued driving for another couple of blocks before stopping in the 1600 blk of Stout St. The van contained four people total at the time of the shooting.

The RTD Officer again told Yachteen to drop his weapon. Yachteen turned and pointed the gun at the RTD officer and then began running back towards the Convention Center. The RTD Officer watched Yachteen stop a Subaru Forester, Colorado License Plate # 207KUM, at 14th and Stout St. and forced four white males out of the vehicle. Yachteen was last seen driving towards Colfax Ave. on 14th St. at a high rate of speed.
