They are coming to Houston and I can't decide if I should go see them. Their last two albums are great, but I never listen to them because they can be, how should I say, BORING!

I just picture them being the same live. Anyone seen them and can give me a thumbs up or down?

And yes I realize I just called a band great and boring in one sentence. It's possible. I love the albums for what they are, but they are slow and not something I want to listen to on a weekly basis.

i like them as well, but they are pretty boring live. i'd save my money and go see the old 97's if i were you.

I'd pass if they are playing a club, but nowdays they are playing a lot of nice auditoriums (auditoriums that typically only do musicals, symphony, ect). If that is the case, the sound will be exceptional I recommend going.

I've seen them a lot of times. They have gotten a lot better as a live band over the years. In fact, I'd say that as their albums got crappier and crappier, their live show improved. The addition of Jim O'Rourke works a lot better for them live than it does on the albums they have done with him. But if you don't like them, you shouldn't go.

I saw them 'live' on a PBS broadcasting of Austin City Limits last week. I completely forgot about them after Bright Eyes went on.

YHF is terrible and A Ghost is Born is only slightly better. Some of the songs from those albums are better live; others are so awful thta they can't be saved. Summerteethe and Being There are among the best albums of the 90's. AM is okay but no match for the last two Uncle Tupelo albums.

i'll go on record and say that i agree with carter in so much as i think the older stuff is better. i wouldn't call YHF or AGIB terrible though. they're both solid albums.

Jay is great live and a super-cool guy. I love a lot of Wilco stuff, but he is definitely the cooler of the two ex-UT songwriters.

Wilco is one of the better live shows going...YHF doesnt translate real well live but AGIB does and they still play alot of there older stuff ( which I like better too)

Farrar is back with a revamped Sonvolt, will be good to see him rock out again
