Good, but has been overpraised by American critics - sort of like Arrested Development - another quirky show the critics love hardly anyone else has seen.
It's like Shaun of the Dead without the Zombies (same people). I personally can have a hard time following the dialogue.
the office is really good. i think most of the humor translates well. as you move through the episodes, it becomes more enjoyable to watch. its not really a show where you can judge it based on one episode.
also, its not from the same people who did shaun of the dead. while two of the actors from the office do appear in shaun of the dead, only one has a significant role in the movie. the other actor's presence was meant to be a joke.
I agree that AD is funny, and better than 90 percent of television.
That said, the complaints about its impending doom are pretty annoying. Kudos to Fox and all that, but AD really belongs on a place like HBO, along with other above par original programming such as Curb Your Enthusiam and The Wire.
in recent movies, I think a case could be made that Dawn of the Dead was better than the original. The opening certainly was (one of the best, maybe the best, first 15 minutes of a horror film ever) but the original did get the whole zombie enterprise going.
My Org. Behavior prof showed it to us in class a few times and had us write papers about what different people in the office were doing wrong in an org. behavior sense. It was decent. Offensive, but decent.
Apparently I'm the only one, but I thought the Office was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. You definitely need to watch the entire series (seasons 1&2 AND the 2 specials). David Brent is one of the funniest characters I've seen in a long time.
I normally hate British stuff (monty python, etc) but I LOVED this show.
