Anyone see this?

It's a pretty good movie, although it has its problems. Surprisingly low key and simple. Good action and beautifully shot. Brolin is great. Suffers from feeling like a film adapted from a book with some missing parts.

I didn't know much about it going in and was surprised it was a Ridley Scott movie.

The book is great. I've also read the River by Heller as well. I like the River more but it's more a young buddy, friendship adventure. But Heller is a great writer that loves the outdoors, hunting etc. if you like adventure, nature, hunting and weapons he could be for you. I don't think I'll see this in theaters but will for sure watch this.

Great book, it was surreal reading it because I lived next door to the airfield in Erie.

Made for a cool reading as I could totally picture all the regional geography.

Same here. It was cool being able to picture everything in detail as he was flying his recon missions and describing the places he'd land.

Critical Drinker reviewed this movie and had nothing positive to say about it. I haven't seen it yet so cannot comment but I find CD and I have similar tastes.

That's disappointing and I agree with on CDs opinions. Clearly based on my username I'm a fan.

Better to be safe than sorry, if you haven't read the book or seen the movie, don't click the spoiler.

I knew nothing about this going in. I was entertained and thought it was fine. Nothing special.

Heard it was a bomb. Financially speaking.

I'll probably watch it when it is streaming in about a week.

Saw it, liked it, thought it was fine, but seemed like the level of movie that Netflix would release.

I typically like his reviews, but this one seemed like he was ripping it b/c people would expect him to hate it.

I used to watch his reviews but he hates 99% of movies. His shtick gets tired real quick with the same memes edited on over and over.

I like Drinker but didn't watch his review in an effort to avoid spoilers.

I love the post apocalyptic genre (and Ridley Scott's movies) and liked this movie but I agree with the above, it could have been a Netflix release.

The Grand Junction cannibals just didn't have the right punch for a grand finale type conflict and it just kind of fell flat. Maybe it's because cannibals in the post apocalypse is an overused trope.

Bangley's shootout should have been extended and been the big finale.

Also, and this is going to sound weird but I struggle with identifying faces and Bangley and Pops looked so similar that I wasn't sure if Hig was hallucinating people due to years of isolation.

Like I said I liked it but I don't think this one has a lot of rewatchability.

I read the book based on seeing the trailer. Read the book thought it was fine. Movie looks way cooler than I'd rate the book. So definitely interested, but will wait for streaming.

Yesterday, I decided to read the book before seeing the movie. So, I read it now and plan on going to see it later tonight or tomorrow.

I saw the movie. Scott and the movie writers definitely took theatrical liberties with telling this story in comparison to how it was told in the book. Like almost every major interaction was told with a different twist or flare. Overall it was a good movie.
