Give me your recs!

I need a new record cabinet for my records and turntables. My previous Ikea cabinet did not survive the move as the records ended up being too heavy. I think that's my real issue is weight.

I have about 500 records, two turn tables, and a Pioneer SX-1010 receiver. The receiver alone weighs about 50 pounds.


Any ideas or do you think this is going to need to be a custom solution?

I think it may need to be custom, but one suggestion would be to try moving it with the shelves empty next time.

Might be worth checking out the LpBin for your records at least. I got mine used for something like $100 and it's been great.


Or contact this guy if you've got like $20,000 lying around.

Or getting something better than ikea since you aren't living in a college dorm.

I don't have hundreds of vinyl.. but I do some heavy box sets. I used a piece of live edge pine I got at lowes. I made some 90s out of 1" iron pipe to mount it. I have plywood backing in the wall, so they are sturdy as hell.
One holds the turntable and the 6 boxsets which are all 8-12 lbs each, while a second shelf holds a guitar amp, books and bluetooth speaker.

Maybe not what you're looking for, but it worked well for me instead of relying on furniture.
