We saw this Saturday and I was a huge fan of the video games growing up that I bought several of the newer games as an adult.

We enjoyed this movie. If you are a fan of the game(s) you'll like the movie. While its not saying much, compared to the previous film, its light years better. There were several moments that the theater erupted in laughter. They did a great job connecting the games and aspects of the games into the film. The movie is all about the tournament, good guys vs bad etc

Here's hoping MK3 is made

All I can offer is that we used to listen to the Mortal Kombat theme song when we were doing COFT (Conduct of Fire Trainer) at my National Guard Unit. Good times.

Let Mortal Kombat Begin

Perfect opportunity for me and the boy to watch it while the wife/daughter go check out the Devil Wears Prada 2.

This is now streaming on Max for anyone interested.

I had high hopes but was honestly pretty disappointed. They had the right idea with Johnny Cage, but there were no consequences throughout the film and I thought the fight scenes as a whole were kinda lackluster. They felt slow and very choreographed, for a move that's all about the fighting it needed to be better.

It had it's fun moments but I was expecting more. Cage and Kano were the highlights by far, especially after Baraka was introduced.

Spoilers are whatever at this point but I'll tag for politness...

The fact that people fluctuate between deeply caring vs not even noticing when someone else dies was silly. Cole, the main character of the first film, gets his head squished by Shao Khan and is literally not mentioned again in the film. And before Shao Khan gets his additional power he was way too unkillable, even in the final fight.

The Jade/Kitana relationship was annoying, and that's not even considering that they're the same age yet she's been her bodyguard for 20 years. Jade betrays her and gives her up to the literal worst person in this world (after being shown mercy by Jax), has a charge of heart, does the right thing, then gets totally forgiven like it was no big deal.

It was ok, I thought the previous one was better.
