Im sure plenty of crass boy band jokes are incoming, but my kids just worshipped these guys when they were first getting into music, and they didn't seem to take themselves too seriously.

Liam Payne, 31, died in Argentina, after either jumping or falling from the third floor of a hotel room.

Relationship with San Antonio personal injury attorney's (edited to add it is Thomas J Henry, owner of largest personal injury firm in Texas) daughter Maya Henry (believed to started dating him when she was fifteen, reportedly changed dob on internet sites, changed it after they broke up). She had a 6MM quinceañera. Wrote a book that was very negative about him, and she posted on TikTok a day or two ago blowing him up for harassing her and blowing up her phone with google cloud numbers (she is very unlikable in that TikTok btw... VERY). She had attorneys file a cease and desist a day ago.

Was acting erratically and aggressive in hotel lobby before, smashing a laptop and someone called Argentina's version of 911 and he had to be escorted to his room. A few hours later.....

Apparently the third floor of the hotel he was at is 40 meters (about 130 feet) off the ground, so whatever the reason was for the fall, he did not have any chance of surviving.

I'm not on a lot of social media so can't confirm it, but the Independent article I just read said none of his band mates have even posted anything about his passing on social media. Only Harry Styles' mom has posted anything.

The Henrys sound like good people.

(I know, only one side of the story/hearsay, but anyone who spends that amount of money on a kid's party's obnoxious.)

This is truly heartbreaking news. Liam was such a talented artist, and it's devastating to think about his young son losing his father. My thoughts are with Bear and all of Liam's family during this incredibly difficult time.

I am getting old. I had no idea who he was.

Saw on the news that he was high on alc and drugs. Then trashed his hotel. Then jumped from the top. This is what happens when one leads a very abnormal life where one wants the next high all the time.

Looks like another singer in a long list of singers who couldn't cope with the fame, fortune and insecurity. It is a very real and very tragic situation.

1D was insanely popular when I lived in Australia.

I happened to be passing through Singapore Changi Airport when they were arriving in Singapore probably 10 years ago. The hysteria of their fans was incredible. It was every bit on the level of The Beatles in the 1960s. Maybe more.

This one isn't that complex. His room was full of drug paraphernalia, he was acting erratic, the hotel staff refused to let him into the pool because of how he was acting. He then trashed his room and jumped off his balcony and landed a few feet away from the pool he was originally trying to get into. It's possible he was trying to kill himself, but sounds like he was just trying to jump into the pool as a form of throwing a tantrum for not getting want he wanted.

Yeah, but from 130 feet (assuming that what the poster earlier said is true)? Even blitzed out of your mind I think most would hesitate at that jump. But if it was a more "normal" third floor (let's say 25-30 feet) then I could see this being likely.

I'm not sure if this is the actual view from the room he jumped from, but it looks like the kind of hotel with a very big lobby which would mean the third floor is way more than 30 feet off the ground. Argentinian paper said he hit head first and cracked his skull open.

in most foreign countries our floor 1 is the ground floor and our second floor is their first floor, etc.. So their third floor could be our fourth floor.

Even so, I'm sure most of us in our younger days have looked out a 3rd floor balcony over a pool and thought "I could make it" even while sober. Add in some drugs, alcohol, and anger and that intrusive thought turns into a good idea
