He and Eddie had a lot of bad blood going back decades. If you read through their history, Eddie comes off as the bigger jerk in a lot of the disputes. He was kinda like a mini Glenn Frey.
But at some point, Eddie is dead, let it go and be the bigger man.

I'm not real surprised by that.

He's at a stage in life where he doesn't care if he offends someone and he wants to stick up for his brother.

Interesting that they considered Satriani when DLR has a history with Vai. Considering Vai quit DLR, it must have not even been worth asking him.

Conspiracy theory: DLR knows he can't sing worth a damn anymore and didn't want to embarrass himself further by lounge singer/talksinging through VH hits, so he did this knowing it would piss Alex off and blow the whole thing up.

I mean, he's also a dick so that's probably the real reason.

Out of curiosity I wonder why they approached Jason Newsted to play bass originally and not Michael Anthony or Wolfgang? Guess I'm out of the loop on the band dynamics these days. And on a tangent speaking of Jason, if you haven't listened to his self titled EP Newsted he put out after leaving Metallica I encourage you too. Solid metal songs, wish he would have done more with it (or had more success with the touring to sustain it). Give it a listen.

It was an incredible show. They played for 2.5 hours, Sammy solo stuff, Sammy with VH, even played a decent number of DLR VH songs. They even played a couple Montrose songs. For being 76 Sammy still sounded great and had more energy than most guys half his age. If they do again next year I highly recommend it. It was 2.5 hours of nothing but good old fashioned rock and roll.

First VH album is one of the best ever. After that, DLR and SH are pretty equal. And I lean toward Sammy because I like him better as a person.
