He was one of my all time favorites. By all accounts he was a very good man.

I remember Amos performed a one man stage show at A&M in the late 90s. I saw him walking in the MSC with a big grin. Seemed like a nice guy.

Guy had a lot of integrity. When Good Times switched from being a comedy about real family issues for working class black people to the "let's stand around while JJ does something funny", he and the mom character rebelled and both left the show.

Dammit. Loved him. He had the serious but super likable dad thing going for decades. He also looked older than he was early…. And seemingly never aged for a long time.
