RIP, one of the most unknown people that had a tremendous impact on American music! And very jealous of him getting to date Linda Ronstadt, ha.

Yep ... JD was one of those guys who made everyone around him better.

His songwriting and back-up vocal appearances are legendary, even if he never had a lot of solo chart success. Although "You're Only Lonely" is a fantastic song. I've listened to it at least 20 times these last few days.

He collaborated with a lot of my favorite artists -- Eagles, Dan Fogelberg, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne ... that whole 70s LA country/rock scene.

He was getting ready to go back on tour when he passed away.
