Watched a Pink Floyd documentary the other night, and they talked about Syd Barrett dropping a lot of acid. It was most likely the cause of his mental problems.

Read this article today and was surprised to learn he did it about a hundred times. Surprised he did not end up like Syd Barrett.

Cary Grant's ex-wife Dyan Cannon wishes she could have 'helped a man who was going through hell'

Grant's frequent use of the psychedelic drug LSD was another factor that played into the demise of their marriage. In 2017, The Guardian reported that he took LSD about 100 times in therapy sessions. Cannon wrote in her memoir that Grant claimed LSD helped him cope with his difficult past and provided stability to his life.

Cannon told Fox News Digital that she didn't think using LSD was helpful for the troubled actor.

"I think he thought it was, but I didn't see that," she said. "And in order to save our marriage, I did LSD and I wound up in the ****oo bin as a result. That's not in the miniseries, but LSD is a killer. I mean, it will whack you crazy.

I had a friend who way overdid it on acid in the 90's and it permanently f'd him up. Me and the group I ran with all did it back in those days. I think I did it about 10 different times. It was always pretty overwhelming for me to be in that frame of mind for that many hours on end. It can be too much. Last I heard about my friend who went off the deep end on it, he was living homeless in Denver.

The world would be a better place of more people did psychedelics. You'll never convince me otherwise. Its the only way to unlock ways of thinking that you don't even know exist.

I found Cary Grants Convair CV-240 sitting in a field in Camarillo when I was looking for planes for the Lynyrd Skynyrd movie I produced. It was about to be sent off for restoration. The person who owned it told us some stories about him flying his Hollywood friends around on some acid flights.

Maybe in a responsible manner and in moderation. LSD is a bridge I personally won't ever cross. I'll dabble with shroom chocolates though…but I ain't tryin to trip balls on psilocybin and get uncomfortable.

Considering how many people are mentally ill these days, I think this is horrible advice. Telling someone with a tenuous grasp of reality to take something that will change their perception of reality is a horrible idea.

Well a responsible person lives life in moderation. I'm not advocating for everyone to go all hunter s Thompson or anything, but I would kill to try some dmt. There's nothing uncomfortable about chomping on a few stems or caps and enjoying the world around you though brother, or taking a hit of acid while camping and staring at the sky and contemplating existence. I wish that my mind worked the way it does when under the influence of a psychadelic at all times. It truly unlocks parts of your brain that are otherwise inaccessible. The mental shift can be profound.

The term everyone was somewhat tongue in cheek, im not condoning giving mentally ill people acid, although that would be a wild ride. Getting the uptight masses to microdose some psilocybin would do people some good though.

Can you give an example of some profound thought that LSD unlocked in your view?

Or is it that non-profound thoughts suddenly seem profound when on LSD?

In my experience it simply makes you have thoughts that you never would otherwise and look at life and the world around you differently. It has been a LONG time since I have taken acid, but I always felt more empathetic afterwards and felt satisfied with life in general and much less stressed out about the world around me. Mushrooms are probably a much more 'accessible' psychadelic though.

There are over 600 FDA approved clinical trial on the use of psychedelics for the treatment of PTSD, depression, and alcohol addiction.

If done in a clinical setting under the care of experienced doctors in combination with weeks of talk therapy, 2 to 3 heroic trips seem to have very significant benefits for certain groups of people that have stuck ways of thinking and not much more to lose.

PTSD seems to be what is helped the most. So much so that a type of PTSD therapy that mimics the third person witnessing of a traumatic event has also shown good but not amazing results, inspired by the psychedelics success rates.

The use of psychedelics in the same way for addiction therapy was kind of an offshoot, when soldiers doing psychedelic therapy were starting to quit drinking for good after the therapy.

Google up on it, it is amazing what is going on out there, who is doing it, and what the results have been. If you have ever seen a loved one struggle to death or close to death from addiction or PTSD, you will get how promising some of this research is, especially for very desperate people.
