Taking my wife and two daughters to Alamo draft house to watch our girl Taylor on 10/28.

Definitely wasn't going to spend that much to see her live but I figured a nice burger and a beer for this would be cool. And being born in 1989 as well, Taylor is such a babe.

Please post any reviews here!

Wife and daughter went with some friends last night.

They had a blast. Reported that it was a meshed version of the actual concert, rather than a "behind the scenes" look.

Basically a 3 hour singalong for Swifties

I'm not a Taylor Swift fan…. At All…. But I wish some of my favorite bands would take her lead and do this same thing. Unfortunately the market for a Skynyrd movie concert is probably a little small.

I hear yah.

In 2013 I went to a Metallica Movie which had a story plot and live concert footage.

This year I went to the Metallica concert in Arlington and it was broadcasted live in theaters around the world.

Love how they are trying to include people who maybe can't afford it or just physically can't go to a live concert

I feel like there is a huge untapped market for live concert movies. The cost of going to a concert has gotten out of control. It shouldn't have to be at an actual movie theater, though. I think you could probably get a good group at a bar to watch a concert, like they do with a sporting event.

I also think there's a decent market for VR concert experiences for those that don't want to leave their home.

I don't know that it's huge. It doesn't really work economically unless you are paying well more than a standard movie ticket I think and I'm not sure there's loads of people heading to the theater to watch a Coldplay concert or Radiohead for example.

It works for the Eras tour because it is legitimately probably the biggest live musical event of the last 30 years or so.

I'll be curious to see how Beyonce does.

She's arranged a similar "direct deal" with theaters

Swift Nation is full throttle. Literally Swifties flying to multiple cities to watch her

I liked it. I'm an unashamed grown man who listens to Taylor Swift on occasion. That crowd was insane. And you gotta respect a 3 hour setlist, night after night after night. The amount of sheer logistics, not to mention remembering lyrics and choreography, I mean damn. Overall, it was an awesome experience and I was impressed.

My theater was going freaking nuts though. It was hilarious watching all these ladies dance, scream, and clap. A few people got their flash waving on their phones for a song.

My wife and daughter went to the concert and have not stopped talking about it for nearly 6 months. I begrudgingly agreed to go to the movie... You know "happy wife, yada yada"

I gotta tip my hat to Taylor Swift. I'll never be a swiftie but she put on a hell of a concert. The stage, the visuals, the costumes... It's a great show. More than once I had to laugh and appreciate the Moms and daughters dancing in the aisles and singing along. It's great bonding.

Swift Nation.

We all just ordered some Eras Tour shirts to wear to the movie concert. I got front row seats so we can dance right in front of the screen. My girls are ecstatic.

Alright. Just got home from the Eras Movie. That was a cinematic masterpiece. Sound and video was off the charts good. Daughters are 4-7 and just danced the entire time with other girls. Wife and I had a blast.

Incredible daddy-daughter bonding time.

Taylor's Vigilante **** routine with the chairs can be appreciated by dads everywhere.

Edit: Very impressive that that production is executed for 3 days in a row and 3 hour set-list

That's a fake stat though. How much money went into all the time and effort to put on the concert? If I showed a video of the super bowl in a movie theater I couldn't say this movie only cost $5000 to film.

There's a rumor out there that she did pretty well on the tour as well.

To find out more, research the concept of "ancillary income"

Is it though?

Selling out stadiums 3 nights in a row across multiple cities across the US. She heads to Argentina in November for multiple sets of 3 night stadium shows which have already sold out.

She made so much money she gave everyone's on her tour bonuses and raises. I don't think she is worried about "fake stats" at this point lol

I'm not taking a shot at Taylor Swift, I'm saying you can't pretend the cost of the movie is $15 million when the "movie" is a massive concert that costs millions of dollars on its own, has a star who is being paid millions upon milliions to perform, etc, and has thousands of hours of work put into it between all of her choreography and song writing and dancers (I'm assuming) and lights, and sound, etc. The sheer amount of people involved in the concert are not getting paid extra to be in the movie or prepare the production that is being recorded for the movie.

This is a weird stance to take.

She spent money to record something she had already planned. The costs for conducting the tour shouldn't be considered for the filming. Those costs were there regardless.

They spent the $15 million to film and distribute film of something that was already happening.

But you already knew that.

This. Those back up dancers and backing vocals are getting exposure to more audiences across the world now. I'm sure they aren't thinking "Thank you for exploiting us Taylor!"

Beyonc is doing the exact same thing with Renaissance. Metallica broadcasted their Arlington show live to theaters around the world.

I think it's awesome for people who can't make the concert and more inclusive to fans of all abilities and income levels.
