Best Served Cold, which was the first standalone novel after the First Law series. Looks like Rebecca Ferguson is in final talks to star and Tim Miller, who directed Deadpool, to direct. Abercrombie adapting the screenplay himself.

Been wondering when we'd see something from him on the screen. Wonder if they'll go back to the First Law trilogy if this one is successful, or if they'll just go from here with the other standalones and the new trilogy.

Don't think he is a great choice as a screenplay writer, dude is terrible at pacing and transitions.

The book seems like a lot of ground to cover in one movie. I would prefer a limited series but I'm excited to see what they do with it.

All in for this one - Best Served Cold absolutely rips and great to see them get someone as big as Rebecca Ferguson.

Sounds like Joe and Tim Miller have been conceptualizing a way to bring The First Law to film for a while now - makes sense for the to start with a feature length film and then potentially expand from there (likely into TV).

I think I'm due for a reread of the First Law series, and I may have only ever read the original trilogy.
Im sure once I am reading them again it will jog my memory, but I definitely haven't read anything he released in the last couple years.

Same here! I remember Best Served Cold got me hooked from page 1.

I can't remember, is this the Blood Nine series? With the crippled guy and the Officer with the hot sister?

It's a stand alone set in Styria between the two trilogies. Main character is Monzarro Murcatto, Duke Orso's general. Shivers is also a major PPV character.

I don't think I've read this one, need to check it out

I'm rereading the first 6 before tackling the new trilogy. I'm on The Heroes but Best Served Cold has been my favorite.

So is there a correct order to read these? I have read the First Law trilogy- where to next?

Release order is what you want because each book is chronological. So First Law Trilogy > Best Served Cold > The Heroes > Red Country > Age of Madness Trilogy

I think there are some short stories floating around as well, but not sure where they really fit in.

I read the trilogy, then bought Heroes not thinking there was an order to the stand alones as well. So stopped and will read Best Served Cold after finishing Mistborn.

Logen Nine Fingers - the Bloody Nine - is one of the great characters ever. As is Glokta - you can literally feel the torment of his existence. I really wish they were doing First Law, though Best Served Cold is really good.

You have to be realistic about these things.
