First three episodes dropped today. Lots of promise with Jesse Plemons and Elizabeth Olsen. The series is based on the true story of Wylie, Texas, housewife Candy Montgomery, who was accused of the brutal axe murder of her friend Betty Gore in 1980.
Quote:

Two churchgoing couples enjoy small town family life in Texas - until somebody picks up an axe.

Is that based on the same story as Jessica Biel's limited series Candy?
Definitely Not A Cop

Yes. Interested to see how they treat the victim in the HBO version. I was rooting for Candy by the end of it.

We joke about the Como Motel in Richardson every time we drive by it.

A lot of the series filmed in Austin, Smithville, Bastrop areas

Love & Death has been very good so far. Comparing it to Candy (Hulu), I'd say Elizabeth Olsen's interpretation is a much more modern take on the character while Jessica Biel's version was a more small town Texas wife in the 80's, right down to the tight perm worn by the real Candy. I'd say both actresses are equally good in different ways.

The Hulu series was good but I think the production value of the HBO series is a little better. That being said, casting fat Meth Damon as the guy with whom Candy has an affair is a little distracting; he has all the sex appeal of a bologna sandwich. (To his credit, married to Kirsten Dunst in real life so I guess he's got some game.)

Got caught up with this last night and I'm interested so far, but I agree that it's real distracting having Elizabeth Olsen looking pretty hot and Jesse Plemons looking like a such a freakin goober.

I know the real life people weren't so attractive, but if you're going to make Candy pretty, you should at least up the looks of the male actor too.

He's lost a ton of weight recently.

They were in Georgetown for a while, too. My wife wouldn't let me try to go find Olsen to meet her.

Friend of mine was an extra and was actually one of the volleyball players in the first episode. He said it was a fun experience and the actors were all really nice.

Been pretty good so far. I like this version better than the other version Candy done by Netflix.

Was wondering if anyone was watching. I'm through episode 2 and it's holding my interest so far. I also came here to post how ridiculous the contrast is in the looks department. Gives hope to "paunchy" guys everywhere.

Started last night. I don't watch superhero movies so not really familiar with the actress.

That's the Olsen twins younger sister? God we're old. She's hot.

very odd to have two networks create a series, at roughly the same time, about the same event, from the 70's.

Probably some back story there as far as the rights getting split.

I'll patiently wait for TCCT so give us the scoop.

Are there bad side effects to ozempic? Seems like it blew up out of no where and seems too good to be true

His face always looks like a grease pit. Breaking Bad, FNL, every role is slick city.

Man I don't know how Candy got off after denying that she had anything to do with it for so long.

I was.on it for about a year and dropped 40 lbs easily. Only real side effect is bloating if you eat normal portions. Amazingly effective medicine.

all caught up.

noticed that Plemons has two old co stars from his big roles on here.

Buddy Garrity is the Police Chief and Jessies girlfriend from Breaking Bad is Candy's best friend.

one of my wife's friends (who was perfectly acceptable, IMO) has been on it for 2 years with no side effects at all.

Back to the show…it's getting intense.

I don't know the outcome. But the lawyer seems to be f'ing this up so bad.

Why would t they just say "yeah she chopped her a million time, I'd be making sure someone was dead too if they were trying to kill me"

I think Crowder did a good job with the forensic pathologist. He was able to get the expert to admit that his findings could not exclude that a struggle took place, that he could not say who attacked first, or that Candy did not act in self defense. The type of argument you are wanting to hear from Crowder is usually reserved for closing arguments.

Wow. They showed the murder in detail. Audible gasp from my wife when they showed the primary hit.

I enjoyed this series. Very well done. Elizabeth Olsen did a phenomenal job.
