Saw it today. I enjoyed it. Not fantastic, but above average. Anyone else seen this one?

It's the story of a US soldier in Afghanistan and his interpreter. Stuff happens and they go through a lot together.

It feels like he's been putting out movies at a pretty crazy rate lately.

Does this one have his BBQ pit in it as well?

Just recently watched Operation Fortune, and he had it in there again from The Gentleman.

There actually is a scene where a character is grilling a steak back home. Not sure if it's his.

Saw it with the wife last night and really liked it. I don't care for Jake Gyllenhaal but he and the Interpreter did a great job.

81% from the critics and 98% from the audience on Rotten Tomatoes.

Just saw it and enjoyed it quite a bit. Reminded me of Lone Survivor at times.

Just watched this and I agree. I can see where parts of Lone Survivor and American Sniper could easily have been pulled for source material. Good flick and would watch again

Is now out on Amazon Prime. Good, not great directing, ok performance by JG, great performance by DS though. A story that needed to be told, we hung a lot of people out to dry in our departure from Afghanistan.

Decent movie, but I had a big issue with the initial gun fight that started everything.

What kind of ODA goes in to do that in the middle of the day? Maybe I'm wrong and an SF guy can answer why they did that as a day opp. Isn't the only reason they would do a day opp is if there was a chance the weapons were being moved before the sun went down?

A fun watch. Not much else on right now. Few points: SPOILERS!

They said to stay away from roads but that's primarily what they travelled on.

On the run they decide to spend the night sleeping, not just a nap. And daylight doesn't wake them up.

Being heavily hunted and they just run thru Taliban Country without getting caught.

The interpreter was better than the Sergeant.

But, it was a fun watch. Especially for Net Flix B-

finally was able to see this one last night.

thought it was fantastic on many levels

a beautiful film, and Gyllenhaal has perfected the tortured American anti-hero role

he is a very good actor

5/5 stars.

Hits home a bit. I tried to bring an interpreter and his family to the United States as we were leaving Afghanistan for good. There are still people working with him and trying to get them over here. As you can imagine, we got into the weeds of documentation and lots of red tape.

It's just ****ty how war is and the amount of US lives he probably saved and what Taliban will do to his family if things go south and figure out he helped us.

Going to watch this movie tonight.

Sad how much red tape exists for someone like him who shed blood for American friends while on our southern border really bad dudes don't even break a sweat coming across the border unchecked. ****ed up system put in place by ****ed up politicians.

But to re-rail, thought this was a really good flick. Watched it with my cousin who served over there and it had him teary a few times.
