(So please just delete if out of bounds)

I was thinking that you don't see that much bush or female regions in movies anymore. It seems odd with the pornographication of our culture.

Maybe it has to do with most women keeping a tidy house and more is exposed? Overall there's less gratuitous nudity these days.

I still remember Revenge of the Nerds.

But really, when's the last time you saw it in a new movie?
What you say, Paper Champion? I'm gonna beat you like a dog, a dog, you hear me!

I would think most films with female full frontal is really just a merkin. Faux bush.

Of all movies with full frontal female nudity sorted by IMDb rating, 9 of the top 10 were within the last 10 years, Titanic being the one outlier.

Can I get that list please? It's for a friend, of course.

You're more likely to see them with hairy armpits than a hairy bush.

I posted something similar not too long ago. My comment was you never see casual nudity anymore. We used to get casual nudity in some PG movies back in the 80s.

It seems like it's either nothing or a sex scene these days. I'm assuming a lot of this is women having more say so than back then.

They better still be making the sandwiches for the set crew during breaks or they are going to start getting power mad.

There was no PG-13 until 1984. Temple of Doom, and Gremlins both received PG ratings, and upset a lot of parents. Red Dawn was the first PG-13 movie. So early 80s movies got away with a lot more under the PG label.

This list is sorting by "IMDB Popularity" which is based on unique hits to each movies IMDb page and skews towards newer movies. It looks a lot different when you sort by IMDb Rating or Box Office.

Not too long after Basic Instinct she made The Quick and The Dead and there was a very prominent full boob and nipple shot.

You know. It suddenly makes way more sense that this is what the Knights of Ni meant, instead of an Herb garden.

HEAD KNIGHT: We shall say 'nee' again to you if you do not appease us.
ARTHUR: Well, what is it you want?
HEAD KNIGHT: We want... a shrubbery!
[dramatic chord]
ARTHUR: A what?
HEAD KNIGHT: Ni! Ni!
ARTHUR and PARTY: Oh, ow!
ARTHUR: Please, please! No more! We shall find a shrubbery.
HEAD KNIGHT: You must return here with a shrubbery or else you will never pass through this wood alive!
ARTHUR: O Knights of Ni, you are just and fair, and we will return with a shrubbery.
HEAD KNIGHT: One that looks nice.
ARTHUR: Of course.
HEAD KNIGHT: And not too expensive.
ARTHUR: Yes.
HEAD KNIGHTS: Now... go!

HEAD KNIGHT: Firstly, you must find... another shrubbery!
[dramatic chord]
ARTHUR: Not another shrubbery!
HEAD KNIGHT: Then, when you have found the shrubbery, you must place it here beside this shrubbery, only slightly higher so you get a two-level effect with a little path running down the middle.

My theory is that most nude scenes in movies used to be a "sex sells" type of strategy. It was one of the major word of mouth marketing successes of Basic Instinct. Now, with online hardcore pornography so prevalent and widely available, seeing a bush or boob on the big screen may not register with modern teenagers/young adults the way it would have back in the era of nudie mags. I don't know, just a theory.

Honestly my guess is that it was the introduction of the PG-13 rating that killed it.

After a few years it was realized now that PG-13 existed, it was a major game changer and PG-13 movies were soon recognized as much bigger box office money winners than R rated movies.

Hence why you just don't see as much casual nudity as you did in the early 80s and all years prior when all you had was PG and R.

Midsommar is a recent horror type movie with crazy nudity and sex. Very uncomfortable scene though. The gummy I took prob didn't help.

Definitely more d and less cooter in film these days. That said, my wife and I laugh about a lot of 80s movies where the nudity is basically shoehorned in, especially comedies

On that note, are PG-13 movies even made anymore?

I realize that's a dumbass question most likely. It just kind of dawned on me reading this thread that I haven't paid attention to ratings in 30 some odd years. Not having kids will do that I guess.
