If you haven't listened to the recent podcast on the series, it's a great listen. One episode per show with a ton of guests and a lot of really interesting behind the scenes stories.

I've never rewatched a show this many times. It still holds up as the best.

Thought this would be about Shogun.

I though this was about V.

Loved Chernobyl but it's not as good as The Band of Brothers.

BoB is gold standard and probably will never be topped.

I was in the corps and they gave us a sneak preview of the 2nd episode in Rudder Theater before it premiered. It was so cool getting to see it on a movie screen.

And yes, it is the best mini series of all time, it's not debatable.

My first thought upon seeing the thread title. In fact, I was just having a discussion about Tommy Lee Jones. Been watching Coal Miner's Daughter.

I love Lonesome Dove and it is one of my favorite mini-series, but it is behind BoB on the list of the greatest. No shame in it -- BoB benefits from having the greatest source material of all time.

I was going to follow up with that. Those Herman Wouk series in the 80s and 90s were the tits.

I watched Roots during covid and it may have been awesome for the 70's but it was a beating to watch by modern standards.

Does North and South fall into that trap or does it still hold up? For reference, Lonesome Dove still holds up for the most part (in my mind) but also has some "made for TV in the 80's" aspects as well, but the material and most of the acting is so good that I can fight past it.
