I can't believe I never met him. My dad grew up with him. I have met his mom and his brother but I never met him.

Tom petty. Aunts friend played in his band for decades. Cool as you'd expect.

Dusty hill. Was chatting with him at a fundraiser and didn't know who he was. Talking cars and cigars. My buddy asked what he did for a living and he said - 'I'm in a band'

My buddy says 'good luck, man, that's a hard road'

Lol.

He said 'yep' with a little grin

We later learned who he was, lol

I'm pretty horrible at recognizing famous people when I see them in public. Others always have to point them out to me, so who knows who I just missed meeting.

My one "get" was Eddie Money a half hour or so after my wife and I saw him play a show. He was walking down the street with a shopping bag, presumably back to his hotel. My wife and I took pics with him, and he was extremely gracious and friendly.

My 2-degrees of separation stories:

A really good college buddy of mine mowed Dusty Hill's lawn when he was a kid. Once he fainted from the heat right in DH's yard. Dusty drove him back to his home.

A girl I dated in HS and college wound up marrying a first cousin of Lenny - SRV's first wife.

I usually don't approach celebrities if I see them in public. That said I ran into Kiss at a truck stop in Big Spring, TX back in 1990 after they played in Lubbock the night before, so I could put Eric Carr on this list.

Not an "artist", but ran into some the Trailer Park Boys crew in the United Club in Denver and got to meet John Dunsworth (Mr. Lahey). That happened during Harvey (my flight home from Tokyo had to go through DFW instead of IAH), just a few weeks before he passed.

Poor out a little drinky poo for ya Mr. Lahey…
