Anyone else watch the S2 premiere after BCS aired tonight?

Strong episode 1. Love the casting of Jay Duplass this season.

After all the great buzz, I finally got around to starting the first season tonight. Just finished the first two episodes and am super into it so far. Now trying to catch up before next Monday…

Yea, I watched all of S1 last Saturday

Finally caught up, all the way through season two episode two, and this show is so f-ing good. Admittedly, the first episode of season one fell a tiny bit flat for me (I also really don't like it when series lean into Covid), so I worried for a minute that season one might have been all this premise was good for. But man, episode two was phenomenal, and maybe the best episode of the series, if not right up there with the best of season one.

So looking forward to finally watching this in real time, on a week-to-week basis now. I wish more people would catch up and do the same.

Also, I need an Industry/Succession crossover episode. Same channel, obviously, but they also feel like they could potentially be of the same world. Have the Roys visit London for some kind flirtation with Pierpoint, and off we go.

I rewatched season 1 and season 2 is starting strong. I'm in.

This penultimate episode of the season tonight was the best yet in my opinion. It's a top 10 episode of all time for me tbh. It's so ****ing good.

That was so damn good, that I've gone from being annoyed that there aren't 40 new replies in this thread every Monday night, to now simply feeling sorry for everyone who isn't watching what might very well be the best current show on TV. Man, what a penultimate episode. What a season.

And yeah, the Kendall Roy line was great. I also love it because it works both ways. Succession is either a show in the Industry universe as well - or - Kendall Roy is a real person in the Industry universe who's famous enough to reference, thus keeping my crossover hopes alive.

Also of note, the creators/show runners are massive, unabashed Mad Men fans, and this is all clearly an ode to the season three finale, in which Don & co pull off essentially the same ruse.

I was already late to the party, but I also must have somehow missed an extremely crucial episode of Industry.

That would top the Succession crossover.

This show is awesome. Would still be just as good if they removed all sex and drug scenes.

If that happened, I guess there would only be 4 episodes.

I have to say, it doesn't seem like HBO is giving this one a whole lot of marketing love, and it's excellent so it's kind of lost on me.

Though, I don't quite get how the Bloom of it all works. I assume Eric cut Harper because of the potential insider trading stink, or because he just can't trust her now that she crossed the line in that regard, or both. Either way, if Harper's gone, what happens to the Bloom of it all? And does this new team even make sense, financially, without Bloom? Plot-wise, I'm assuming Harper will be back at Pierpoint at some point in season three, I'm just trying to track the logic/strategy of Eric's decision in that moment.

Surely the insider trading scare was part of his calculus as you said. But yeah, the deal to Adler had merit because of her relationship to Bloom. So I dunno.

To me, all of these characters are so self-interested and full of themselves (except for maybe Robert), that this might have been a "you screwed me now I'm gonna screw you" back when Harper pulled that move at the duck hunt when Eric was forced out of his job.

Gotta think Harper and DVD partner up to start S3.

Was the forged transcript something that they mentioned in a previous episode and I missed it?

Klineman called Harper about not having the transcript in S1 I believe, and that's when she had her friend forge it.

I can't recall if Eric ever brought it up, but he did give harper **** one for coming from a non-target school. I'd love to know how he figured it out.

Good finale. I thought you could sense Eric starting to turn on her/have second thoughts in their meeting with the head of their business unit. Just seemed uncomfortable with how cutthroat she became.

Only part I didn't really understand was the sex scene at the wedding. Did I miss the story building towards that? Just seemed like another thing to throw in to say, look how terrible everyone in this industry is.

That's a good point about the whole "you screwed me now I'm gonna screw you" thing. Could easily be as simple as that. It feels like they've grown together since then, but I would still buy it. Either way, it made for incredible TV. As I've noted before, the two showrunners are huge Mad Men fans, and were clearly nodding to the MM season three finale with last week's episode, so I just assumed they were going to follow through with their own version of their guys pulling off the heist, so to speak. Instead, on a meta level, they brilliantly used that expectation to blindside us with the dagger from Eric in the final minute. Just amazing stuff.

By the time season three comes around, I need maximum engagement with this show on this board. It's too f-ing good to go under the radar like this.

Whats the chance this gets picked up for Season 3? 20-40%?

After last nights episode (one of the best of the whole series to me) where do all the characters go from here? Seems to me last night was a fitting end to the series. I wouldnt be mad if they ended it there.

The showrunners seem pretty confident in a season three renewal, to the point where they're saying they're actively brainstorming and have a number of ideas. Add that to the fact that it's likely a relatively cheap show to make, considering no big stars, and that it's a critical darling, I'm guessing it gets picked up again. Hopefully.

As for the storylines, to me it very much felt like they were setting up for more to come. Harper getting her "revenge," Yasmin having to make it on her own, the further adventures of Gus and Bloom, etc. But if this was a series finale, I can also see how these could be fitting ends as well. I think they brilliantly walked a fine line in it acting as both a season *and* series finale, if need be, but the showrunners definitely have more story to tell.

Seriously why aren't more of you all watching this?

Finished newest episode. Oof. The girls took a bruising during that episode. I felt a "that which does not kill you, will set you free" vibe.

Just binged both season 1 and 2 this past week based on a recommendation from a coworker, and man it did not disappoint! Dark, grimy, sexy, excess, great acting, this show had it all. Harper and Yasmin are terrific in their roles. Rob was better in season 1, but still a great addition to the show. Eric and Rishi are intense and tough to like, but I do. The side characters are a mess, but they are a fun part. I definitely watched with closed captioning on so I could understand everything, and there were so many great lines being yelled in the background that it was fun to read them all.

Overall, just a great cess pool of money, greed, backstabbing, sex and drugs. Highly recommend for an adult only audience if you are looking for a new show. Looking forward to season 3.
