A cash-strapped Nicolas Cage agrees to make a paid appearance at a billionaire super fan's birthday party, but is really an informant for the CIA since the billionaire fan is a drug kingpin and gets cast in a Tarantino movie.

That premise sounds remarkably similar to the Jean Claude Van Damme series on Prime where you find out JCVD was actually a spy and all of the movies he made in the 80s/90s were just fronts for him doing spy work. It's a fun series if you haven't seen it. Only 1 season I think.

Saw this tonight in a free Lionsgate screening. Fun movie. Runtime of 107 minutes was just about right; didn't feel rushed or go on too long. The scenes w/ Cage and Pascal together are great, as expected. It's a self-aware fantasy with some genuine laugh and surprise moments. Though I will say the trailer conveys most of the storyline. The very end of that redband trailer gives a hint of my favorite scenes in the movie.

Tiffany Haddish and Ike Barinholtz were thrown in for unnecessary comic relief, doing some sort of bizarre Laurel & Hardy CIA agents routine. Then again, I've never liked Ike going back to MadTV.

But it should be a decently fun movie for just about any regular poster on this board.

Incidentally, the screening was completely full. I'm not sure I remember the last time i was in a theater that packed.
