I went to watch Dune on I-Max last Thursday. Our showing was at 3:20. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, but the weirdest/best part… there were only 4 other people in the theatre (Houston). The last time I watched a movie in the theatre, I think it was Zootopia and it was also sparsely attended. I think I'll be going to the theatre more if it's like this. Are all matinees like this? How many people have been in the theatre for your recent trips to the theatre?

I imagine most matinees are like that. Shang-Chi on Saturday around noon was half full at best. Bond at noon on Saturday was about 10 people. We'll see what Eternals at 2:00 is like this Saturday but I'm anticipating about the same thing. Maybe the next Spider-Man will be different and have more crowds of kids?

I dont think there have been more than 20 people in a theater since covid start and I have seen several. 5 to 10 others in dune last week. Tenet was something like 15 people at each showing. I've seen a couple others that i cant recall but were sparsely attended. I love it because I hate hearing fatties smack food and crinkle wrappers.

Last Friday I saw Dune at 7:30 and there were about a dozen people in there. Opening weekend of Shang Chi it was pretty similar on a Sunday afternoon.

The fullest I've seen since covid hit, by far, was Venom. Opening night. IMAX theater was probably at 80% capacity or so.

It's great until the theaters shut down due to no customers.

Seeing Dune today and theater looks to only be about 20% full.

I had booked my Dune ticket (for last Monday) a night before the show and there were maybe just under a third of the seats sold. By the afternoon of the showing it was listed sold out which seemed odd.

I had a COVID anxious person in my group worried about a packed house, so I called to see if it was just listed as sold out due to distancing policies.

Turns out, it was "sold out" because of staff limitations. This was an Alamo, so they didn't have enough servers for more than half the seats (it seemed like half full when I went).

You went mid-afternoon on a weekday during the school year and are surprised it was sparsely attended? That's how it goes.

I saw dune on a Sunday at noon in imax here in Dallas and it might be the most crowded theater I have been in since before the pandemic. 60-70% full

I always used to go to theaters in the middle of school days just to be in empty theaters. I think maybe endgame is the only full crowd theater I've been to in a decade.

If I can, I'll only go middle of the day. I came back from an overseas trip for work years ago and went and saw 300 and ibwas the only person in the theater. It was I believe the only time I have been completely alone. Really cool.

I go to a late showing (9:00 or so) once or twice a week. I live in a city of 100,000+ with 2 movie theaters. I'm usually the only one there.

Last film I went to see in the theater was pretty packed. Granted, that was Avengers: Endgame the day after release.
