Highly recommend people read "American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer". Covers his whole life in very very fine detail. It's a dense read but there's plenty of time before the movie

Also good:
"The Making of the Atomic Bomb" -Richard Rhodes

"The Los Alamos Primer" -try to find a version with annotations by Robert Serber, has some good humor mixed in and good description of nuclear physics for those who aren't physics nerds.

Looking forward to what Nolan does with this. I am a bit afraid this is one of those topics for me where no movie can do it justice and I'll walk away disappointed no matter how good it is.
PLEASE USE SPOILER TAGS, NOT EVERYONE HAS READ THE BOOK!

There's a lot of truth to that, since his resurgence. However, he also hasn't really been in a movie where he has been asked to do more, or something different.
He's definitely a good actor, and I trust Nolan.

It's a Nolan movie. Who gives a ***** He can get a totally new and different character out of someone like RDJ.

Were you a big Robert Pattinson fan before Tenet? I wasn't, but he was great in that role.

I just hope that the story happens on the screen, and isn't like Tenant.

twist, this movie is actually simultaneously a sequel and a prequel to TENET

Pattinson was in some good movies prior to Tenet, I liked rdj before he known as Iron Man, and that's not a knock on superhero movies IMO, Iron Man 1 was the best

And is shot through brief flashbacks from Oppenheimer's memories with zero dialog and only brief glimpses of the restroom and cafeteria at Los Alamos.

Like Dunkirk, I bet there are three different timelines of this film:

1. The moments leading up to the actual test explosion / Hiroshima
2. The research going on during the Manhattan Project. (Maybe RDJ is Feynman?)
3. Oppenheimer after the war

Those are three different non-overlapping points in time. C'mon this a Nolan movie. The timelines have to be overlapping, or inside of one another or something.

You're probably right.

All three timelines need to overlap
The timelines need to move faster/slower through time (Dunkirk)
One of the timelines can be going backward entropy-wise (Tenet)
One of the timelines should be boot-strap paradoxxing to one of the others (Interstellar)
One of the timelines can be inside another timeline (Inception)
All of the timelines ought to have dialog that's difficult to hear.

I can hear it now... "buying or building a nuclear bomb was cheaper than digital effects anyway..."

He flips it on its end. This time we think they are all happening at the same time, and then we find out they arent at the climax.

Florence Pugh for the win!!!!

Rami Malek is meh....but maybe Nolan can use him effectively like he does with Anne Hathaway

Some good info in here - like who's playing who, a bit more story/character context, etc - that I wasn't aware of...

I think it's just the lighting. Close up, it's definitely real.
