Not a cover, but Tom Petty/Prince doing While My Guitar Gently Weeps at George's RRHOF induction was amazing!

Never heard this cover before, Nice!

The Rolling Stones did a great bluesy version of I Wanna Be Your Man and SRV did the same for Taxman,

Not a true cover but love this

Wilson Pickett's "Hey Jude".
That's Duane Allman on guitar. The argument has been made that the Southern Rock genre was born out of Allman's work on this song.

John Denver's "Mother Nature's Son".
This is one my favorite Beatles songs (I posted as much on the other thread). John Denver is in my top two favorite artists. I love this version.

Ugh. Yeah that was one of the few celeb deaths that got me.
What an effing band.

Junior Parker - "Taxman"

Cypress Hill fans will recognize it.

Wow I've been a massive Cypress Hill fan for 30 years and never realized "I Wanna Get High" was an interpolation of another song. Always just thought that was a DJ Muggs original beat. Good stuff.

I don't know about the best but I really like this one:

Oh yeah, this is my favorite but it's also by my favorite musician of all time so I'm a bit biased.

I'm biased because it's my favorite song, so perfect in its simplicity. This version captures that. I also just think there's something so cool in the idea that one guy can stand up there with nothing other than his guitar, and command an audience.

Grohl is a legend.

He broke his ankle during a show, and played another 2 hours with someone holding it in place. Full story here. Starting at around 6:40 in.

A couple of songs from EJ: A live take on "We Can Work it Out" and a studio version of "Paperback Writer". Dude plays some unusual and interesting chord voicings:

I figure most folks have heard Stanley Jordan's version of "Eleanor Rigby", but just in case:

You can find several live performances on YouTube too. The studio version is much less frantic and more reflective.

Wouldn't expect this would come up if this thread hit 5 pages, so I'll do it. Peter was a huge Beatles fan, they often covered songs live. This is the only studio recording they did, a Beatles medley.

I am a massive fan of this pretty underrated band. Get past the gimmicks and the imagery and you have a brilliant songwriter.
