Really good and different fantasy series just got picked up for a tv series by one of the Executive Producers of Stargate shows. Here's hoping for minimal disappointment.

I really enjoyed this book series and enjoyed the muzzle loading rifle + magic combo. Was a pretty interesting and bloody series that could make an interesting tv show.

For those that enjoyed The First Law series his one has a similar feel and are pretty good reads.

Cool, will definitely give this a watch when it comes out.

I felt the third book was a bit of a letdown compared to the first two, but overall a good trilogy. It was definitely nice to see a fantasy series step a little further in time beyond the era of swords and shields, and the powdermages were a cool twist on traditional magic.

Not to derail, but @Prime, have you read the recent Abercrombie books? Same world as the First Law, but moving into an Industrial Revolution type setting.

The new Abercrombie books are on my list to read! This latest trilogy set in the First Law setting still isn't complete, is it not? I was waiting until he got closer to finishing up this latest round of books to start it up.

Final book comes out in September, I believe
