I usually don't put much credence into articles that are based off a few embedded tweets, and I think this one is unlikely considering this has bubbled up in the recent past. But you never know, of course.

Either way, I imagine Justin Roiland would still carry it on, with or without Harmon.

The news is like 3 hours old. I've seen it from half a dozen sources...all seem very niche.

The difference between this and family guy is one is live action where a dude raped an infant with his pants down around his ankles. We never see Herbert from family guy in flagrante.

Jokes are jokes...sometimes they just ain't funny....so what....when I was a kid the trend the more disgusting the joke the better, "what's grosser than gross..."

The movie vacation basically states that Randy Quaid makes out with his daughter...at the very least.

And no I haven't seen the skit.

Rick and Morty started out kinda funny, but got old fast - whoever writes that show is a sick POS and local authorities need to keep him away from kids.

He addressed this years ago and apologized for it. A bunch of Karen's just found out Adult Swim existed on Cartoon Network. Move along, nothing to see here.

teenage boy "grosser than gross" jokes are still a thing and are just proof that teen boys lack a sense of humor.
What is funny when you are 5 (poop jokes, fart sounds) is universally funny. What is funny when you are 14 (space shuttle explosion jokes, baby in blender jokes, etc) is just designed to shock and upset adults and reflects that point of adolescent development.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily fromNarodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

Well, crap. I just started watching this show. Will stop watching and go back to Dora the Explorer.

Honestly, didn't understand the outrage until I actually watched the clip. Parody or not, it was in incredibly poor taste. I think cancel culture is ridiculous, and I don't think we should be trying to cancel him for this, but JFC was that sketch a stupid idea. Most people on here would lose their jobs if there was a video like that of them out on the internet. Just picture an obese, naked Dan Harmon thrusting on a plastic baby doll that is supposed to be a child. I think the most offensive thing about the clip was not the baby rape, however, but just how unfunny it was.

Agree it was unfunny. Plus, it was 11 years ago and he apologized for in 2018. No reason for Rick and Morty to be cancelled.

My biggest take away is that there are some parents out there that let their kids watch Rick and Morty. Strange that they complain about the Dan Harmon video, but are fine with their kids watching this show...

Talking in generalities, somebody who is able to write stuff like Rick and Morty is not normal. That person is ****ed in the head yet has been blessed with enough innate ability to sublimate the crazy in their brain into media that we consume and love.

They are at the precipice of insanity and sometimes so far away from a normative reality that they will be wrong sometimes in what they think is funny. To me, it's fine if they show remorse. They wouldn't be able to create the awesome stuff they do without their minds going into some dark realms that none of us can imagine going to, but they don't necessarily need to be judged and then canceled by normal people's standards unless they refuse to apologize.
