Because I am pandemic bored, and yeah this one is a bit of a stretch...not simultaneous stuff like the end of ROTJ, but actual time sequential scenes.

I thought of this while watching Almost Famous (again).

There is the scene where William chases Penny's plane through the concourse, which is so pure. The next scene is the plane scene where they think they're going to crash. Those two scenes go a long way towards defining a great movie and are both done so well.

And yes I would put the destruction of the Death Star and the ceremony scene at the top, but they have that short segment in between.

I'm no expert on what would be the cutoff for when a scene truly ends and begins in some cases, but I would nominate Verbal Kent and Dave Kujan's somewhat heated exchange where Kujan is absolutely sure that Keaton is Keyser Soze, and then the famous realization scene afterwards.

The reason this was an interesting question to me is because most great, powerful, climactic scenes are followed by some form of acknowledgment. A celebration, quiet reflection, sadness mourning etc, it's really tough to string two great ones together in a row. Especially in a drama.

Any back to back scenes during the attack on a Kings Landing...

Yeah, and one of the reasons I love BTTF (though I never understood it as a kid) is that is really has two separate climaxes, one for George, and another for Marty. And both are absolutely fantastic scenes.

Kind of two scenes, kind of one.
But does it get much better than the Darth Vader scene at the end of Rogue One and then the "hope"scene to close out the movie? Talk about ending on a high and mic dropping your way out the door.
