This board got at least 50% worse when he left us for the great gig in the sky. I'm sad I never got to share a beer with him and listen to his rock & roll stories.

What year did Fast Fred pass? I feel like it was 2015/2016ish, but it could be wrong.

IMO, peak TexAgs was 2012, and he was no doubt a staple around then. Those were of course the Johnny glory days, but in terms of entertainment, 2012 was the year we got the first Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall, the glorious Man of Steel teaser, and was when the new Star Wars movies were first announced. There was so much for us to discuss, so much hope and excitement in pop culture, and for A&M's football future as well. That might have been one of the best years for television ever as well. Not to mention, politics weren't nearly as divisive and didn't seep everywhere like they do now. If anything, it would have been interesting to see how Fred would navigate all that stuff now, because I can't imagine him giving two sh*ts, which would have been refreshing.

I don't know why, and this is super random, but I always pictured him as our Obi-Wan; this old, wise, chill dude who would pop into our "cantina," share his thoughts, tell us some awesome stories, and then retreat back to his hut until his next drop in. He was such a cool, unique guy.

This post really makes me miss the days where people weren't interjecting politics into almost every movie and show discussion.

My daughter started watching Disney Junior and I was laughing to myself....someone on this board would probably complain that these cartoons are way too SJW/virtue signaling/libtarding.

And I totally forgot that he basically died at a concert, which is - and I mean this in the most respectful way possible - astonishingly on brand, and quite possibly the most badass way Fast Fred could have passed. In other words, when I said he was our Obi-Wan, I had no idea how accurate that truly was. He might as well have waited until the perfect moment, pulled his lightsaber close, closed his eyes, and let the music take him...

Also, Fred has the same birthday as me. Which is now the coolest thing about me.

Obit says he was survived by his mother.. he was 74, so if she's still alive she must be up there!

I once got on FF for making a habit of posting new movie threads when threads already existed for them.

Ever since he passed, I've felt really crappy about being so petty about something so inconsequential. It's too bad he's not around anymore. His reviews were always insightful, well-written, and entertaining.

Would have loved to hear his thoughts on some of the movies of the past 3 years. May he continue to RIP...

My friend's band was actually playing that show when he passed. Saw the news via FB, and then put it together when i saw the news on here.

Fred was one of the all-time best posters on TexAgs, maybe the best ever. Was incredibly fortunate to meet him when he came to one of our shows in the Austin area sometime in the late 2000's I think. Anyway, just a fantastic guy who loved music, life, and people. If there ever was a Mt. Rushmore of TexAgs, Fred would be on there, no doubt!

Speaking of legends, too bad Liucci never post on this board, he knows alot about music and movies, would love to hear his take on things.

Fred is missed

I always liked his movie reviews, starting with "Saw [Insert Title Here]"....He had an interesting point of view and way of writing.

And I remember him always being respectful and nice.
