Ok. So I started with Blood of Elves which I think is book 1. Or at least full Novel 1.

Honestly, I'm not sure I'll finish this book. There are way too many characters all with odd names that are hard to keep straight. That includes like 12 Kings (including a Queen) some of whom are apparently more powerful than others. The main characters jump from place to place from chapter to chapter without explanation or reason. I don't get it. Does it make more sense soon?

So... Blood of Elves is the first book of the 5-book saga, but Last Wish and Sword of Destiny come first and were written first. So that's a big part of it.

I'd recommend going back and reading those. It's essentially the Netflix series, but better-written. They're kind of a collection of unrelated stories, but among those stories you do get some crucial stuff: Geralt claiming the law of surprise, Geralt meeting Yennefer, etc.

I didn't love Last Wish right away, but by the end of Sword of Destiny I was hooked.

Let me add to that, too: the setting is pretty complex. You have...

- the empire of Nilfgaard in the south, which has already tried to invade the north once
- the various northern kingdoms. Cintra has fallen to Nilfgaard and Ciri is the heir. You also have Temeria, Redania, Aedirn, Kaedwen, and Lyria & Rivia (same queen rules both lands).
- Ithlienne's prophecy, which contains most of the titles of the books. Ciri is believed to be tied to this.
- elves, dwarves and halflings living in ghettos and being treated like ****. Some rebel elves called the Scoia'tael are murdering humans and such to try and fight for their freedom
- there's a conclave of mages that advise kings and rulers

So it is pretty complex. And whether because she's the heir to Cintra, or because of the prophecy, everyone seems to want Ciri for one reason or another.

Honestly start with last wish and the other anthological stories. It sets the table for the main story, because by the time you should read the first novel the world is already fleshed out.

I'm a huge fan of the Witcher-verse and played all 3 games but I found these books not enjoyable. Weird.

I got into the Witcher by the video game Witcher 3, but I think the books are fantastic, the saga in particular

I watched the Netflix series which I thought was pretty good. Followed that up with the Witcher 3 video game on a Switch. I've enjoyed the video game for 9 or 10 hours since December, which is a lot of video gaming for me. But thinking back on it, it feels like most of the video game consists of walking or riding around the Eastern European countryside killing monsters and dealing with ugly humans. Apparently my daughter is out there somewhere and there are two women who I can bang if I play my cards right, but I haven't gotten anywhere near that. What am I missing on the game?

You have a long ways to go, but I promise if you stick with it you'll be rewarded with an epic gaming experience...and by a long ways to go I mean you still have potentially 100+ hours worth of content if you have both DLCs

100 hours?

I could have sex 4000 times instead of playing a game that long.

Did not play my cards right and ended up alone at end of game because I tried to two time them. Was actually depressed by this. Which them made me depressed that I got depressed by that.

Then I went and had sex with my wife to offset.
