This was from a few years ago but wow! In just a little over 4 minutes of edited time he goes over a lot of things that we discuss here from time to time.

Curious to hear y'alls take on this. And apologize if this has been posted before.

Not sure what movies he is in but I don't think he could be any more wrong. Sounds bitter.

Is there more crap out there? Sure... But there's more good stuff out there too. When we were kids you had maybe 2 new releases a week, and usually they were mediocre... But it wasn't that expensive to take the family and it killed a few hours.

As for why they don't go to the movies now? Pretty simply. For the cost to bring a family of four to a first run movie and buy concessions pushes $100.

You can buy a 50inch 4K UHD for $300.

Yeah you lose out on the "movie experience"... People talking, not being able to pause, expensive concessions, etc...

As for his comments about what stuff "wouldn't get made now"... He essentially contradicts himself. He says Goonies wouldn't get made now, but then says Stranger Things is Goonies... So reality is Goonies would get made now, it would just get made for a different format.

So the format is the issue, not the content.

Ya, he sounds like he's reasoning why he's not at Tom Cruise status yet.

Probably because of his overacting in We Are Marshall.

I find it ironic that he mentions Scarface as a movie that shouldn't be remade.

That second sentence, out of left field.

Interesting points. I think he's right, in a way, in that people go to see characters and franchises rather than actors and movie stars, for the most part. At least at first. I think we now can tell the Chrises apart from each other, but Chris Hemsworth was just "the guy who plays Thor" until probably Ragnarok. All his other movies had bombed. But I think he's becoming more of a household name. Anthony Mackie is still "Falcon," but maybe when he leads a Marvel film or gets the Disney+ show, that will change.

There's an interview out there about him becoming Captain America that was really interesting. He talked about trying to get auditions earlier on in his career, when he had to call people and say "Hey, I'm the black guy from the Hurt Locker." Now he's been in 6 MCU movies and doors are opening up. It gives him the flexibility to do big blockbusters, but also smaller more creative projects. I don't think he was complaining about not being Tom Cruise in this video - but being Tom Cruise opens up a lot of avenues to find those hard-to-find-in-theaters projects that are now on Netflix and such.

Marvel movies, the Hurt Locker, 8 Mile, Detroit, Black Mirror. He's taking the lead role in the next season of Altered Carbon as well. Things like that.

Interesting dude. I don't agree with everything he says, but he's been in some good stuff over the years.

Apparently the guy who played Aladdin hasn't been able to get an audition at all. The movie hit $1B and got pretty solid reviews.

It's crazy.

That dude wasn't a very good actor though to be honest. And he didn't really have much charisma. Love for him to prove me wrong, but he was super forgettable (as was Jafar)

Someone was discussing this the other day on Twitter and pointed out that Mark Hamill really didn't sniff another big role after Star Wars. Just because the movie does well doesn't mean the individual actors find success.

Jasmine (Naomi Scott) has a new role, in this boards favorite flick of Charlie's Angels featuring Kristen Stewart. Box office results still to tell if this actually counts as a new role or not.

that's because Mark Hamill is a pretty crappy actor. it's almost a hallmark of the Star Wars franchise. for every Harrison Ford, there are 2-3 really crappy actors playing leads or big supporting roles.

I gotta say, the people talking thing has me just about ready to call off ever going to a movie theater again.

I've gone to different theaters, different types of movies, and it seems like every single movie I went to this year had at least one person talking through the whole thing.

Apparently it's perfectly normal to talk aloud in a movie and explain everything to the date you brought that doesn't get what's going on. Or to add what you think is comedic value to the movie experience.

I notice it with with pretty much all the under 30 people even when I watch movies at home with them. They seem to think it's normal to just talk while watching a movie. Talk about every scene. Make funny remarks.

In my day, if you were bored you do this. But to them, even if you are really into the movie, you talk about it with your friends and family while its happening.

I can't #**@ing stand it.

I think I'm going to have to have kids just so I can bring some young people in this world that know how to watch and enjoy a good movie.

i built my home theater because i couldn't stand going out to a theater anymore. only way i'll do it is if its Alamo Drafthouse or something like that where i'll be eating etc.

otherwise, nope. i remember one of the few times i've been in the last couple of years. my wife and i went on a weekday evening since there wouldn't be crowds. we get 2nd to last row.

a couple comes and sits down 2 seats from us with their kid. then proceed to pull out an ipad to let him play games on while they watch the movie. the ****ing glare from an ipad in a dark theater is distracting AF.
