I like this news and you picked my two favorite comic strips.

I like to think that a combination of reading The Far Side and Bloom County as a young person in the 80's was a significant factor in shaping my sense of humor in adulthood. Loved them both. Still do.

Secondhand Lions was on the other day & we watched the last half or so. When they showed the comics written and illustrated by the grown up Walter I said to my wife "dang that looks like Bloom County." I had never noticed that before for some reason. As we watched the credits, lo and behold Berkeley Breathed, author of Bloom County was credited as the illustrator.
