All 3...cough...well 4 Indiana Jones movies are currently on Netflix. So, I, of course, just binge watched all of them again. It's been years since I've seen them.

Here are my unbiased rankings.

1. Raiders of the Lost Ark
2. Last Crusade
3. Temple of Doom

4. Crystal Skull

This is the correct order. Although you don't have Crystal Skull low enough. I'd rather watch the south park / Indiana Jones / Deliverance scene on repeat than that abomination.

Agree with your list. Outside some of the effects in today's eyes, it's hard to fault Raiders for anything. It's a great film.

EOT from the OP. But don't be too proud of yourself. The rankings are a no brainer.

It's funny. As a kid Temple of Doom was my favorite and it wasn't even close. I thought the dude with the horns on his head was just so badass. It made the movie for me.

Crystal skull should have never been made.

I love Temple of Doom.

But Raiders is literally, IMO, a perfect movie. In fact, I can't think of any movie I hold dearer than it except ESB.

Y'all realize that Indiana Jones played no significant role in the Lost Ark, right?

Raiders (my second favorite all-time movie behind The Empire Strikes Back)
The Last Crusade (my third favorite all-time)

After those, I probably like Crystal Skull a smidge better than The Temple of Doom.

Not that I necessarily think either is actually better than the other, but at least it does have a more known quantity as villains (Russians) as opposed to the Thuggee. The others feature the best villains, the Nazis, and are memorable for that. I always enjoyed Doom, but the movie has always had moments that grated on me, mostly involving the blonde and the kid.

All four feature great John Williams scores, and Harrison Ford, to me, is Indiana Jones more so than any other character he has portrayed, including Han Solo.

Really the only argument is TLC vs raiders since the others are pretty self explanatory. I personally enjoy TLC the most.

Temple of Doom has grown on me over the years. A little dark with some typical cheese but feels more adventure-ish (Maybe it's the jungle setting) Still in 3rd behind Raiders and Last Crusade, but it's respectable and infinitesimally better than Crystal skull. I'd rather watch Sharknado than IJ4

Temple of Doom was not good. It's every bit as meh as Skulls.

The other 2 are classics.

I honestly can't comprehend how anyone can even put Last Crusade in the same ballpark as Raiders. I like it, but Raiders is literally an American film classic. The action sequence from the moment the Ark leaves the excavation site with the Nazi's to the point the Arabs help Indy hide it is LITERALLY one of the best action sequences ever filmed.

TLC has some great action sequences of its own. And Sean Connery. The addition of Connery gave the character of Indiana Jones more depth than we had previously seen. The conversation between dad and son aboard the Nazi airship was fantastic, as was the little smile that Ford had when his dad bear hugged him after the big tank chase.

The opening sequence was fantastic with River Phoenix as a teen Indiana Jones, but I still remember the loud cheering when we see the grave robber put the hat on Phoenix's bowed head, and when he lifted his head, it was Ford ~30 years later getting beat up off the coast of Portugal.

All because HF got sick and couldn't physically do the original fight scene.

And Indiana Jones is sort of a putz. He has his moments but these movies are more of a comedy than action movie.
