Bob Einstein who played Marty Funkhouser on Curb died today. Always loved seeing Super Dave on the early days of Letterman. I had no idea that he was Albert Brooks' older brother

Two of the earliest shows I remember watching on cable were "Bizarre with John Byner" and "Not Necessarily the News." I always loved the Super Dave segments.

I absolutely loved seeing him turn up in "Ocean's 13" as Linus' dad. He was great.

I'll try to do it when I have time, but look up the clips from some of his old live action shows....that character wasn't just a cartoon. There was guy that played 'Fuji" and it was absolutely hilarious. He'd explain something to Dave about the stunt they were about to do and as he'd finish, Dave would look into the camera and mumble something to the effect of "I didn't understand a word he said". It was so damn funny.

Yes that was my intro to him - the Canadian series Bizarre which also ran on Showtime - and later the spinoff Super Dave show.

When we first got cable around 1981 that was one of my early discoveries. Greatness.

A horrific stunt with a pile driver went wrong...

the best parts of the stunts were the after commentary. usually four letter words and descriptions of his injuries and threats of what he was going to do to the host guy when he recovered. lmao.
