I'd say that it's our greatest franchise right now. F&F is a far second. It's superior to bond by a lot.

Cruise is still in phenomenal shape and I think could pull it off for at least 10 more years.

I've loves every single one except for 2, which had a Daltonesque Bond feel to it.

The real question is how many more can Tom cruises body take?

I think Tom has one more in him, maybe two if they go easy on the physicality in that one.

Idris Elba isn't that much young either. He's 45 and not getting younger. I think when they replace Tom Cruise it will be someone much younger than even Elba.

Idris will look older than Cruise in about 3 years.

Also, fun fact, Russel Crowe is 2 years younger than Cruise. Now watch The Mummy and try to accept that.

I've only seen the 1st and I think 5th MI movies. Maybe I should catch up.

if tom cruise were human, i'd say we've realistically got 2, maybe 3, more M:I films with ethan hunt in the field doing crazy stunts. assuming a 3yr cycle, that puts cruise at 65-66.

not sure what the future beyond that would be. these films would have to be very different if Cruise/Ethan were moved out of the field. i'm not saying you couldn't still make them compelling, but they'd probably become less dependent on big set pieces and crazy stunts.

And in fairness, Ethan Hunt has canceled the apocalypse a few times now, and Idris has some experience with that.

Hopefully no more. They've sucked since the first one, which was great btw.
