It was the one that stood out the most

Ok, I'll give you that. Some other teachers were talking about it during lunch today, and then proceeded to tell me I needed to watch since I missed the original series.

I was a little surprised on how much political stuff they covered in the first episode alone.

I'm hoping they're aiming for getting every single political topic out of the way right off the bat, because if they keep up with this there's literally no way I'm watching the rest. But it does seem like they're not taking it super serious/making fun of it. I was very much looking forward to this, so I'll wait & see.

Yeah, definitely lighthearted humor.

I did enjoy it. Was clever in parts, others not so much. I liked the original too. But it was very well done.

Watched the original all the time. Watched last night's for 15 minutes. Couldn't stand it anymore.

The laugh track every 1-2 sentences made my ears bleed. Funny, since it was "filmed in front of a live, studio audience." It sure didn't seem like real people laughing.

The non-stop political jokes were completely annoying. No original humor.

I'm done with it. Won't make it to season 2.

It was hit or miss. They're trying to force all of the characters back in and they're hurting the overall product by doing so. John Goodman carried the funny lines last night with Roseanne having a few good spots. The rest of them (especially Jackie) were pretty bad. I'm not sure Becky and DJ have been in anything else since the early 90's and there's a reason.

While it was obvious that they're shoehorning almost every demographic into the mix (I eye rolled that about 2 minutes into the show) I think they actually could have something with the little boy being the way he is in a Dan Conner type home (think Archie Bunker hating and eye rolling all things lib).

The wife and I don't watch a lot of sitcoms but we'll give it another chance.

I pretty much agree with Stive above.

The acting was pretty bad, and they all nailed the white trash look that's part of the show.
Even with all that said, there were some funny parts that will bring me back and watch some more.

I'm in for the whole season. Jackie was very good as the idiot feminist.

John Goodman was worth watching, but that's not enough to keep me coming back. I thought it would be better.

Which Becky is it? Didn't they change actresses halfway through the original?

Both. I read an EW article that said the 2nd Becky is playing a new character.

She's playing the woman who wants Original Becky to be her surrogate mother so she can have a child.

I really enjoyed it. It wasn't "Roseanne at it's peak", but I thought it was better the final seasons of the original.

I really really don't understand why sitcoms feel the need to over-saturate the laugh track so much. Drove me crazy for the first ten minutes.

I also appreciated that they showed Roseanne as a non-racist/sexist/homophobic/transphobic Trump supporter.

Ratings were huge, apparently.

I enjoyed the show during the early 90s peak and I enjoyed last night. I forget that it really was right in the middle of the monoculture in the 90s as a top 5 rated sitcom back when sitcoms mattered. The laugh track is good for nostalgia - glad they left it in. In fact honestly the only reason I'm enjoying this is for the nostalgia....no way I would tune in to a brand new network show like this. Might as well get Home Improvement, Fresh Prince, Saved by the Bell, etc going too at this point

I liked how they were developing the relationship between Dan and Mark. I thought that was an interesting twist.

I find it funny the people that are talking about how Pro-Trump they were in the show and how offensive that was. The Roseanne character would definitely be a Trump supporter.

I think the reason so many people liked the original was because it was finally a sitcom the majority of America could relate to. The characters were about as blue collar as they come. Struggled to make ends meet. Dealt with real life issues. It wasnt some fantasy with doctors, lawyers, rich kids, etc. It was REAL.

Been watching reruns on Amazon Prime and it still holds up.

Seasons 3, 4, and 5 are some of the most consistently funny of any sitcom I've seen.

John Goodman was the best thing about the show in it's original run, and that held true last night as well

I haven't watched a show with a live audience in a while and it's annoying. They tell a joke then pause.

First episode was hit or miss. 2nd got much better.

Curious to see how they deal with Mark and David. Why is Darlene's son named after Becky's deceased husband.

Who the heck was their son "Jerry" that Roseanne mentioned when praying before dinner...

Wondered that myself. Was that a late addition on the last season or something?

I totoally forgot. It was a jump the shark move that almost everyone forgot.

Also, I didn't watch the last season. But didn't they win the lottery, but it was just a dream, then Dan died of a heart attack?

I watched the show for the first five or six seasons two decades ago, but I didn't finish and I don't remember much of what happened. Do I need to go back and re-watch the old episodes before watching the new stuff?

Worst thing ever.

They won the lottery. Dan left her. It was ridiculous.

Last episode they revealed that the whole series was made up and her book. Dan died and didn't leave them.

That's why they had those jokes in the morning.

I need to watch the originals. 8 year old me didn't appreciate anything about it, but maybe 30 y/o me is slightly smarter.
