I've been streaming the TV show Blue Bloods recently on Amazon Prime. An episode I watched last night caught my attention when the beginning credits were rolling and I saw the name Karen Allen, the actress who portrayed Marion Ravenwood in Raiders of the Lost Ark. The Blue Bloods episode was titled Unfinished Business.
At some point near the end, Tom Selleck's Commissioner Reagan character is sitting on a couch with Allen's character, and I recalled that George Lucas had originally intended to cast Selleck as Indiana Jones before Selleck's contract with CBS over Magnum, PI got in the way. It struck me that the scene on the couch could very well have been a reunion of sorts.
What really made me think the folks who made that particular episode were very much aware of this potential casting history came in a scene right at the end. Commissioner Reagan is going to accompany his son, dad, and grandson on a camping trip. The commissioner comes down the stairs, ready to go, and is wearing an Indiana Jones fedora.
