Definitely will be there (mostly for A7X and Volbeat, but still). Now the important stuff, does anyone have the presale code?

Sign up for their fan club and you will get one. It is free but good for only 2 tickets.

Those are some pretty ambitious venues. I saw Metallica back in 2010 and they were playing in basketball arenas that weren't sold out... Without some sort of "fairwell tour" gimmick selling out three football arenas in Texas in a single week will be pretty impressive.
This is their first time in TX since 09. They will have no issues selling out 85 percent of the Houston and DFW show. The SA weekday show is the one they should worry about.

Do you sign up on Metallica's site or Ticketmaster's or someone elses's to get presale info?

Looking to see what my Summer schedule looks like. I may be in TX the week they are there. Otherwise it looks like Edmonton is the best option, maybe Denver if I'm not going to be in TX.

legacy member presale password is in your account, and is tomorrow at 9am. It's a unique code.. so not gonna post it here

Regular member presale is tomorrow at 11. If you sign up today, not sure if you'll get one or not.. worth a shot, their membership is free now. (Legacy members are those who had paid memberships prior to it converting to free a few years ago)

The last stadium tour was with linking park/limp bizkit/deftones.. 15 years ago almost... and last tour through houston was 2008.

This will be a full stadium. Maybe not sell out.. but full. Two solid opening acts with lots of pull in their own right.

This is end stage, so they probably lose ~10-15% of seats behind stage as well.

Not true. I saw Metallica at Circuit of the Americas in 2015 as part of the X Games.

Apparently someone is not aware of SA's love affair with hard rock.

I heard the theme will revolve around imagery from hardwired to self destruct, and they will be playing select tracks off the album.

My source is not confirmed though.

You can check their current setlist in asia/australia.. probably similar I'm sure. Being in large stadiums, I'm sure there will be fire, and a very large stage.

I will be attending the July 9th Atlanta show. Last saw Metallica at Voodoo Fest when the filled in for Green Day. I am looking forward to them and Avenged Sevenfold who I have never seen

Fine print:
Dallas, San Antonio and chicago are metallica and AX7, no volbeat
NY, Boston and STL are metallica, volbeat with no ax7.
Gojira replaces volbeat from LA on.
Quebec is metallica only.

I'm glad denver has both. Seen them both several times *one time together) and enjoy both of them a lot, but it was always festivals. Doubt I'd go see them on their own.

Gojira would be cool, but I'm seeing them in May.

As I suspected.. Sports authority field is only being about 60% sold.. 40% is behind stage and grayed out.

That brings these 80k stadiums down to maybe 50k, which is easy for metallica to sell, let alone with ax7.

Strange.. the regular ticketmaster page says ticket prices are $55-$155, but the presale page has two categories, $159.50 (gen adm and reserved 1) and $139.50 (reserved 2)

First of all, that's conflicting info, so not sure which is right. Second of all, that's ****ing expensive. (over $300 after fees for the cheap seats).
62strat

So yeh.. presale was those two price ranges.. $350 for a pair.. ouch.

Got some kick ass seats though.

They are selling 12 VIP experiences for each show.. meet the band, group photo, hang out, free dinner, drinks all that.. I was playing around and went to the page.. actually was able to pull 2 tickets for it. Oh man the teenage boy in me wanted to hit that proceed button soooooo bad.

But my mid 30 year old self with two daycare bills made me resist.

The price?

$5,006.

AHHH F-me.

I think I said this last time.. but if they do this again next time, I'M PULLING THE TRIGGER!

Couldn't pull trigger on floor but got lower level section 15 row 10 for Atlanta show.
62strat
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I just checked my email.. toyota center, 2008, I got mid court lower level, 9th row through metallica presale..

$59.50 with $12.50 fee. $288 for 4 tickets. I distinctly remember Metallica touting that they weren't going to raise the ticket price and keep it the same as the previous tour (2004).

I see they've played a little catch-up.

$350 for two floor seats, highest I've paid to see them, but way better than getting crap seats.
62strat
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Rough numbers here.. and seat quantity is educated guess (based on sports auth. field seating chart):

11500 seats @ $55.50
13000 seats @ $69.50
12500 seats @ $139.50
12000 seats @ $159.50
2500 field @ $159.50

Single show
Revenue of $5,598,250
Ticket fees of $17.91 @ 51,500 = $922,365
Mailing fees $2.95 ea order another ~$100,000

For 25 shows:
Ticket revenue is $139,956,250
Ticket fee revenue is $23,059,125
Mailing fee revenue is $2,500,000

Total revenue $165,515,375

And that's before the $40 t-shirts! Figure another 5-10k of those each show, that's another 5-10 MILLION dollars.

I'd love the see the expenses side of the equation.

For the first time, I have paid a ticket fee higher than my first concert, which was about $16 at woodlands pavilion in 1993. (with a $1.50 fee)

Also paid $350 for two GA tickets at Jerryworld. Strongly considered just doing the VIP at $350 a ticket but wasn't sure it'd be worth it. Looking forward to seeing them for the first time!
