With some time off and some crappy weather I finally decided to start watching this one from the pilot episode with the intent to watch it all.

I just finished Season 1 tonight and WOW! Minus the first two episodes it was fantastic. I couldn't stop watching. Some of the best TV I've seen and up there with Breaking Bad and True Detective (season 1). Only complaint I had was the lack of teets.

Are the rest of the seasons this good or am I in for a big letdown?

Every season is great until season 5. It's not bad and still better than 95% of what's on tv, but it is the weakest season. It just gets bogged down with one stupid storyline. Season 4 is every bit as good as the best of Breaking Bad.

Season 2 is a little slow too.

I loved season 2.

Season 2 starts slow but finishes strong. I too, thought Season 5 dragged out too long but I still really liked it.

It would be worth watching 3 full seasons of Two and a Half Men to get the payoff of Season 4.

Yeah, I kinda lost interest partway through s2. Need to go back and get into it.

The best is ahead of you, OP. Seasons 2-4 were such a fun ride. Best 3 seasons of TV ever, imo.

Oh, and your only complaint will be rectified in s2.

ending of season 2 was probably my favorite ending of any of the seasons.

Probably one of the best things about watching The Wire now, is seeing Tommy Carcetti and thinking of him as Littlefinger.

I have a hard time keeping names straight on GoT so I just refer to Littlefinger as Carcetti.

Season 2 feels like a jarring departure on first viewing (esp bc Ziggy is such a little ***) but on subsequent viewings and as the show goes on, you realize how important that story line is. Frank Sobotka is a fantastic character and has some of the most important lines in the show.

My favorite TV series of all time. Nothing even gets close. And some on here are correct in saying that Season 2 is kind of an ugly duckling when you first watch it. I have since gone back and viewed in the series again and Season 2 ended up being one of my favorites.

Season 5 is a bit "out there" but it's filled with McNulty, so it's an automatic qualifier of awesome.

This is my 2nd attempt to watch it and the first time I couldn't post the first episode. This time I watched episode 1 and didn't stop. I just went right into episode 2 and 3.

After episode 2 it gets really good and hits it's stride. Season 1 was awesome.

You absolutely have to push through the first several episodes of the first season and then after that it is hard to stop watching. IMO the best series that has been on television. I recently re watched the entire thing when they re released it in HD.

Season 2 starts out as "WTF......WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?! I don't care about these friggin' white boat people! Where's Stringer?" Then it gets better. Season 4 is the best.

Agree with everyone else on season 2. It's a slow, weird start because its focus is so different than what you saw in Season 1, but once it starts picking up, it gets really good. On my second viewing of the whole show, season 2 moved up into a tie with season 4 for my favorites. After my first time through, it was next to last (ahead of 5).

One of the best things you can do after you've completed the series is to go back and watch seasons 2 and 3 again. 2 had so many key introductions and so many awesome lines that you don't pick up on during your first viewing.

Honestly, looking at the guide's description of Season 4 I'm not too excited, but not one season hasn't let me down yet.

I'll try not to oversell it. Season 4, for the most part, is told from a different perspective. I've waivered a bit over the years, but I almost always come back to it as my favorite when I think about them and try to rank them.

I know for a fact that it was the season that shifted my thinking on the idea that people that grow up in that environment all have/had the exact same chances that I did/do as a young white male. Yes, I realize that was a naive and tunnel visioned view, but as a young man it's what I thought. Now.....I don't think so.

Season 4 is widely known as one of the best seasons of television in history. Hard to choose what season I personally love the best, but if I'm delivering one season in a bow to an awards ceremony, I'd probably say S4 would be the one to send.

Trust me, you'll love it. Also, if you haven't shed tears yet, there's a certain scene in S4 where you will...or you should.

Season 4 is incredible

I banged out all 5 this fall. Loved it. Got to. This is America.

If you drive in the city and have a snotty nose, sniffling kid start washing your windshield, look around and make sure his handler is around. If so, he/she will be less likely to mug the **** out of you if you roll your window down. Either way, best to just wave them off.

Ouch that sucks. I'm good though, I can say this and actually mean it. I'm "natural police" in real life. so it shouldn't be a problem for me.
