Anybody seen anything about this movie? Saw the trailer last night and it looks intense as hell.

imdb lists the plot as: Four men set out in the Wild West to rescue a group of captives from cannibalistic cave dwellers.

I can't tell if it is supposed to be gritty or a horror movie

Supposed to be a mix - gritty western with serious horror parts. Getting really good reviews.

The commercial seemed over the top, but that plot has potential. Happy to see any new Western.

I watched this last night. Very interesting concept that starts steady keeps a good pace and finishes strong. The action bookends a very character and dialogue driven middle. Its creepy and pretty chilling in parts mainly because of its very realistic feel and the possibility that something like it could have taken place 150 years ago. One of the things I particularly enjoyed was the dialogue as it was very akin to that of Deadwood. All that was missing was an occasional Al cussing outburst. Give it a try if you want something a little off the beaten path. Don't if you are looking for an action movie.

Thanks for the review and it sounds about what I've been expecting. Will definitely check it out now.

Watched it last week - 6.5/10.

It starts strong but ends weak. The initial story and character development is outstanding. The second half of the story is kind of rushed, developed characters are forgotten, and the ending contrived. Overall, it's a good movie to enjoy without expectations.

By far one of if not the most gruesome, disturbing and downright chilling scenes I have ever scene in a movie. I literally felt my body get clammy and almost started sweating. But, overall I liked the movie. Getting a chance to see KR in anothe western was more than worth the 7 dollars to watch it on Vudoo. Just BE WARNED!

Planning on renting it tonight on demand. Not too pumped up about your warning though however. The most disturbing scene I have ever witnessed on film was the 8 minute long rape in Irreversible. That made me sick to my stomach. Hopefully the scene in question isn't as bad. I love westerns, Kurt Russell, and off the beaten path flicks too much to stay away from Bone Tomahawk.

Just finished it. That scene...good lord. I enjoyed it.

***spoiler***

Two potential plot holes:
1. How did he get up into the cave? No way he could by himself.
2. Minor: I think they miscounted on the number of troglodytes. There were 12 and I counted down and they were off by one.

Very entertaining movie. Was surprised at how much I liked Foxs character.

I thought it was just OK. Not very memorable. The violent scenes are a little over the top and will dissuade me from recommending to some folks who I know to be western fans, but don't appreciate unnecessary gore.
Fox's character was my favorite

Just finished this on the tablet waiting on my flight.

I liked it. I thought it was gritty, creepy, and suspenseful. I thought it had a very Django Unchained meets Signs feel to it. Very different and enjoyable. I didn't think the gore was over the top. It was just enough to show what it needed and that was it.

If your looking for Western move on but if you're looking for an intense, thriller I'd say try it.

As far as the spoilers mentioned earlier...

He took a different way to the cave. Remember he didn't go through that crevice like the others. That's why he didn't see Booden lying there.

And I didn't count the savages.

Finally saw this last night after the wife went to sleep (she hates anything not an indie romance or comedy) on the recommendation of Texags. Personally I liked it, even though I found the horror to be a little cheesy that unnecessarily relied on gross out gore to hammer home the danger.

What I really, really liked about it was the characters and overall quality of the acting. Agree that Fox's character was the most engaging, but overall I think each actor knocked their character out of the park and their interaction and dialogue was believable.

That scene in the cave though, with the deputy... I don't think I've ever seen a person killed in that manner... Ugh.

I'd say 3/4 stars. The ending definitely felt rushed. But I did like how they left the blinded preg chick to die.

Interesting how it was all set in motion by the drift randomly wandering into Bright Hope.
