For me, there were two significant comics:
May 1983: Thanks to this first ever commercial for a comic book, I had to go out and pick up this issue (my first comic purchase). I was already collecting the toys, so this advertisement hooked me.
September 1984: Having read the G.I. Joe comics for a year, I decided to give superhero comics a try. Spider-Man was an easy choice as I'd liked him for years (thanks, Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends!). This was the first one I picked up. The black costume was a surprise.

Probably the 3rd or 4th comic I bought. I also collected a lot of baseball, basketball, and football cards, so if you did the same, you knew die-cut was the **** back then. I loved Wolverine and issue #50 was die-cut with his claws. It was my favorite thing ever:
