I never liked the old episodes - pilot through about 2009. But, in 2010 it really became fantastic - better even than Family Guy. The character development was fantastic: Roger really came into his own and became the main focus of the show, Steve's character was fantastic. Pretty much every character was perfect except for the daughter and the fish, although the fish had his moments.

I'm not sure why Fox decided to drop the show, but now TBS has it and is marketing it as the new and edgier American Dad. I'm not sure if they lost all the good writers or what, but the show is horrible now. I have fought through the last 4-5 episodes without much more than a chuckle. I don't see the show making it past this season.

Does anyone else share my sentiments?

I guess I never got it because I've never found this show funny.

Liked it better than family guy and other works by the guy who created all of them. Yeah american dad definitely had better plots and character development, and unlike family guy didn't rely on a flashback every 3 minutes to try and generate humor.

I've seen a couple episodes from TBS and while I haven't hated them, they aren't my favorite either. My guess is this will probably be the last season for it, I doubt TBS picks it up for another one. Shame, I wish fox would have kept american dad while family guy got stuck on TBS but I guess a larger portion of viewers still prefer Family Guy.

Is this a joke? That show was terrible. Or is, if it's still on. Which I'd be shocked. Cause it's terrible.

I stopped watching family guy shortly after it "returned" it was just shock jokes that weren't really funny.

I'm bothered as to why/how this is a genre.

Simpsons, American Dad, Futurama, Cleveland Show, Bob's Burgers, etc. It is a thing.

I don't watch often but there have been a few moments that f***ing killed me. Almost all involved Roger.

I think the hardest I've ever laughed at a cartoon was when he was dressed as a Mexican and leading a high speed chase while a nonsense tejano song played with lyrics like "the dog is my heart and the cat is not famous."

Speaking of the "adult cartoon" genre, if you guys aren't still watching South Park you should be. This season, their 18th... is one of the funniest ones ever.

Just from reading Wikipedia, apparently the showrunner departed around the time you stopped liking the series as much.

Also, American Dad has been removed from the Fox lineup in part to make room FOR....another cartoon that involves Seth MacFarlane. He'll be the executive producer for a show called Bordertown. Apparently Hank Azaria (of Simpsons fame) will be one of the voice actors.

Damn, are the family guy ratings THAT good? Seth McFarlane is going to become the Lorne Michaels of Fox.

Love American Dad.

Roger is definitely the best character. Love his Kevin Bacon costume.

IMO Roger is one of the top 5 characters on TV. Pretty much everything he does makes me laugh.

I completely agree with this. That character is brilliant.

I have enjoyed the TBS episodes. The slow race across the living room (and how Roger made Steve lose) was frackin' hysterical.

Roger makes the show, that being said the best adult cartoons are:

1.South Park-pure satire that straightup kills, especially if watched shortly after the episode releases.
2.Archer-the building references and all the screwed up characters makes this the best character centric comedy on television(in my opinion).
3.Futurama(I think it should be picked up by Netflix for continuation)- tons of nerd humor, I'm just sad that it can't stay alive on any network.
4.American Dad- the best McFarlane cartoon, mainly made by Roger being a wild card each episode by which persona he brings to the table. Without Roger though, the show would be about as good as Family Guy if not worse.
