My gf's mom asked me to ask my dad (who is an avid reader of crime fiction) for similar authors to some of their favorite authors, namely Jo Nesbo or Henning Mankell.

My dad had no idea, and the internet isn't being as helpful as I'd like. Do any of y'all have any suggestions? They're getting ready for a big international trip and wanted to load up the kindle.

I love the wallander series (Mankell), but I haven't read too many other European authors. The Harry Bosch series (Michael Connelly) is very good. I also like the Kenzie/Gennaro series by Dennis Lehane.

Have read a couple of Nesbo books and good, although why they are so hung up on Nazis in that part of Europe is wild.

I recently read a detective series book that was pretty good. If is a Chinese detective in Tibet. Eliot Pattison's "The Skull Mantra". I'll probably check out another one.
