Did Sherman plant the gun on Ronnie?

that's kind of what i took away from it.

great season, BTW.
they've slowly moved from 50% beat cops/50% detectives in season one to being almost all beat cops now, with the one detective left still being the worst/most boring part of the show. they need to get rid of her.

I like Regina King's character but I'm ready to move beyond this whole pregnancy issue. Some new blood in that department would be nice.

Also, the gun they took from the body appeared to be one of the guns he was cleaning at the first of the show.

Really hated Sammy in the past when he was a detective, but thought he was great this year when he went back to the streets. I really enjoy the change they made to his character (not just detective vs. officer, but his whole persona). Thank god they got rid of his wife/gf - she was a beating.

I agree with those above with how much better it was this season with the focus on the streets, and how annoying Regina King's character and stories were (and hope they would drop the detective side altogether).

Fantastic season. Much better than the previous ones (in my opinion). "Guest" actors (Lou Diamond Phillips, Bokeem Woodbine and Lucy Liu) were great as well.

I've had a hard time liking Sammy since he killed the guy's little brother in Alpha Dog.

I wasn't sure about the gun part. I also would have thought that Ronnie's prostitute g/f at the end would have already found out he'd been killed. Still love the show though.

I've mentioned this in the Southland thread but I really hate how this season the homicide detectives have solved every murder investigation in one episode. The only exception being last nights episode but even that investigation had an eyeball witness and a suspect in custody. That is one heck of a close rate.

I'd rather have them focus on patrol. Also where was Det. Adams partner? Did they ever mention why he was absent in the finale? Last nights episode just seemed like sloppy writing. I almost think the episode before would have been better served as a cliffhanger finale.

/edit: also the gun at the scene was different from any gun shown in Sherman's possession during the finale.

with all of the "take my picture here, i wont be back for a while" stuff they were doing with Lucy Liu, i was afraid they were setting it up for her to die at the end. glad they didn't.

I thought he may have planted it but at the same time it isn't a big stretch the think that Ronnie would have had the gun on him.

brenda walsh's SR prom date went on to become a damn good gay cop.

In the opening scene where he's cleaning his gun, he's got a gun with what appears to be a chromed slide and a matte black lower, which is the exact same gun they took off of Ronnie. To me, that is too much of a coincidence when it comes to writing.

He planted the gun (my opinion). I don't want to see them discard the detective storylines because I thought they were a really solid part of the show in previous seasons. They just let it get too stale this year due to (1) leaning way too heavily on the pregnancy story with a character that is a bit tired, (2) the detective partner they provided this year (acne mouth) was a complete dud of an actor and character, and (3) the murder storylines did seem to get too neat and lazy. I'd rather see that side freshened up with new characters and plotlines, otherwise I think they risk falling into a rut on the beat cop side. Instead of the detective portion being more murder focused, maybe reintroduce the gang/vice angle it used to have.

I thought the same thing but after rewinding I can positively say that the two guns are/were different models. So either it was a mistake or the similarities were intentional to make the viewers wonder.

I'll have to look at that again.

The thing I like most was the ending. Sammy can't call Ben out for shooting or planting evidence because he'd be guilty of the same stuff he was upset with. Nice little touch to the end of the season.

I was also excited to see Bull back to pushing around a rookie.

I'm behind by 3 or 4 episodes. I need to catch up quick. IMO the first three episodes of this season were excellent, but the the stories got weaker and I lost a little interest.

Like the gun he shot at them with while in the escalade?
