Sitting here listening to the self-titled album. What a great band that never made it outside of the region.

Makes you wonder how many equally good or better bands met the same fate.

Anyone know what happened to them or their members? I assume if they aren't bouncing around in other local'ish bands they individually joined the working world.

I'd really love for them to get together for at least another show in the DFW area.

Went to several of their shows while I was at A&M; always a blast.

They had a reunion gig this spring. Darwin (I think) runs a label/management company. Most of them still play here and there.

ooh oh my eye is on the ball oh all.

def. my favorite band that I was able to kind of have to myself for several years.. see them in small places, meet them, hang out, etc.. all really nice guys. They were always my example of a band that was better than 80% of the crap on the radio, yet they struggled with legal mumbo jumbo which really haltered their success... though they had their fair share of big shows, opening for big bands.

Darwin is (and has been for a long time) a PI.

Will, guitar player, owns the record label. (www.humongousmanagement.com) Pat, bass player, is a lawyer, not sure what tony and howie do. A friend of mine is married to howies sister, he used to fill me in from time to time, haven't seen him in a while though.

Great band. Their self-titled album will always remind me of my undergrad days...

That's right. I got them mixed up somehow. Tony used to be active on myspace then disappeared.

And wow rock band to PI is a hell of a transistion. Wish they had gotten over the hump.

And I don't know if they're still together but wills wife was just blazingly hot. Really nice too.

I was talking to him ~2005 and he said he had been doing PI work for a long time. It was job that allowed to still record/do small tours.

I'd say Pat, rockstar to lawyer, that's quite a feat.

That first cd was money. It makes you wonder how bands like Pushmonke. Would have fared in today's music environment with iTunes, facebook, myspace, YouTube, etc... It's so much easier to get exposure outside of your respective area nowadays if you have talent than it was even a few years ago.

I've got a live version of "Sweet Caribbean Bungalow" and when it kicks in, it begs you to blow up your speakers. Abso****inglutely brutal.

Hi guys, Pat from Pushmonkey here. The attorney in the office down the hall said you were talking about me so I thought I'd check it out!

62strat is right, I'm an attorney now, acutally living in College Station. Will is a producer and manages a couple of bands. Howie runs a masonry business. Darwin is a PI, and Tony is a financial advisor (I think).

College Station crowds were always our favorite!

Pat, you guys totally saved my ass when that kid fell on his head during your last NXNG show.

I was disappointed I couldn't make the Steamboat reunion in the spring. you still have a facebook following. ill be there if there's ever another reunion.

You guys played a show for us (99.5 KISS, the place I worked at the time) back in...'98 or '99 at Sunken Gardens Theater in San Antonio. If I remember correctly, you guys played an early gig in Austin and then came down to play our show. A ton of people had left after the headliner (who sucked, btw) but I told as many people as I could to stick around, because Pushmonkey put on a hell of a show and they'd need to see them. Everyone who stayed was impressed.

I remember going to Ozzfest 2000 (?) in San Antonio where Pushmonkey played and I was stoked so we showed up early. I thought that would be their springboard to national popularity. That or their appearance on "Melrose Place" lol! Anyone else remember that?

I always wondered how you guys never made it bigger Pat, groovy ass stuff, simple heavy riffs, awesome vocal harmonies, etc. Killer live shows on top of all that. Bummer that it didn't get over the hump, but I always had a badass time at the shows.

gotta love the trumpet and the gratuitous thumb-diddling from Tony

Forget the trumpet, the toy megaphone solo from Rednose rocks to this day.

Great stuff in here, I remember seeing Pushmonkey in CS and Houston and having a blast at their shows and introducing a few coworkers to their music as well, met the guys a few times and they were way cool.

I think my all time fave would have to be Pushmonkey/Blue October at NXNG at Shadow Canyon in...'99?

Best song by a damn sight was "Maybe."

Saw them and Puya when they opened for Maiden at Sunken Gardens in '99. Kick-ass show. I seem to remember it was Bruce's b-day and his first tour back with the guys.

They opened the mainstage for Ozzfest 99, IIRC.

Maybe was just a rework of sweet carribean bungalow, off of Maize (Their best work IMO)
SCB takes the cake I think.

I totally never saw that Pat came and posted on here! Awesome! Play a reunion show!

I saw PM many times over in later years, but first time was at woodlands pavillion at what I think was a 101 KLOL rock fest type thing. It was like 1996-1997.. Can't remember... Pat, you remember!?
I got Maize around then and never looked back. I still will jam that CD start to finish.. so good.

I remember seeing them many times at the Dixie Theatre in the mid 90s. Good times.
