I'll recommend "Da Vinci's Inquest," which is available from NETFLIX.

Very good combo of "Law and Order"/"NYPD Blue"/"CSI" type stories made for Canadian TV.
However my wife and I found it almost always a cut above what you got with those shows.
Interesting characters/fine acting/great cinematography/engaging stories sometimes resolved quickly with others continuing over several episodes.
I think this show compares well in both cinematic production excellence and law enforcement procedural believability to "The Wire," a series which we really enjoyed a lot.
