It always amazes me about the movie industry how it seems they seem to act as if they've exhausted all potential things to make movies about it, and end up just producing tired repeats. Yet there's so much history that seems largely ignored. This is a good example, there's hardly anything made about the Revolutionary War. Why is that? I've always been surprised too in the lack of biopics on important Americans. Is there a biopic about Lincoln? FDR? Teddy Roosevelt? Any of the Founding Fathers (other than the John Adams series)?
Just seems like a major source of material and a serious gap in our film industry's inspiration.
the public just doesn't go for stuff from beyond the "modern" era. we can relate much better to war movies that are WW2 or newer. same thing with crime/gangster/mob stuff.
i was amazed how good john adams was. i was not really interested in it, but my parents were insistant that i watch it. it was truly an impressive, touching and memorable series.
