For anyone who is asking, Doomsday isn't dead but he likely won't make another appearance on Smallville. All they did was set it up for Doomsday's later reemergence when Superman is known to the world.

I wouldv'e bought the whole "send him to the phantom zone" bit, but this.......... against something that you can't kill........

It seemed to me that they just plain forgot to write the part that explained what happened to Doomsday.

"Clark, how did you escape?"

"I'm not really sure. I can't remember."

Were we supposed to recognise whoever that was at the end of the episode that Tess saw, or is it a new character?

You should have heard the voices chanting "Zod"

And the bald head looked a lot like Luthor

And I'm pretty sure the Kryptonion symbol was Zod's symbol.

Also I think they literally just retconned Jimmy Olsen and had the actual Jimmy Olsen be his younger brother.

Of course this isn't surprising at all considering Smallville has done a lot of that recently.

I couldn't believe that finale. They've been setting up a battle between Clark and Doomsday all freakin' season, and *that's* what we get????

I'm with you Rex. Same thing happened when he tried to take him to the fortress.

And WTH happened with Lois?

Lois put on the Legion ring, she's trapped in the future.

She picked up the Legion ring and accidentally time traveled, but we don't know where to.

A nice closing shot wouldv'e either been Lois in the future with the Legion OR one final shot of Doomsday trapped..........

What seems to be the problem with Smallville (in my opinion) is they always build up to these massive battles (Zod, Bizarro, Doomsday), and they always fall short with just a quick battle with a simple solution..... But, with next I guess we'll see (so long as Zod is played out and not a one episode re-appearnce)

You're surprised? I'm not at all and in fact I expected it. Doomsday is a Superman villain, not a young Clark, not yet Superman villain. The entire Death of Superman arc would have been absolutely meaningless if Superman isn't known to the world. They really didn't have a choice with that ending.

I also hope you realize that it was obvious Clark wasn't ready to face Doomsday. Doomsday was kicking his ass like he was nothing. If Clark tried to fight like in the comics, he would have been killed easily.

He would be as ready as the writers want him to be.

It is obvious he is maturing, getting stronger and more ready, but not ready yet to be "Superman"

I just thought of something...

Doomsday was essentially Zod's son, as told earlier...he hid him on Clark's ship...

So we could feasably see Sam Witwer back next season.

Kneel before Zod! Sorry, I had to do it.

Haven't we seen Zod on Smallville before?

Only inhabiting Lex's body.

Older brother was Henry James Olson, so it's not too much of a stretch.

If you look closely at the figure at the end, it's actually Sam Witwer (Davis Bloom actor) and doesn't resemble Lex Luthor at all.

Zod IS Doomsday's father, or according to the series he was, so Sam Witwer coming back isn't that much of a stretch.

Show is moving to the Friday night dead zone next season...this thing should have been killed 4 seasons ago.

I was bummed, but not surprised. As has been pointed out they've done the same thing over and over the past 3-5 seasons.

I was bummed when I heard it was picked up for another season. I was hoping it would be canned early and they would have written a nice series finale. Hopefully they have time to do that next season.

Also, I don't remember anything about the legion but after reading the recap I apparently saw that episode. Oh well.
