I saw the "Cool" edition of RS Mag at the bookstore and the cover was "50 Coolest Albums of All Time" so I pick it up and thumb through the mindnumbing dribble and adds and find the article. Guess what I found a list of albums that in it did not have the album that defined the word "COOL" but also gave us the word "Foxy" and currently seels more today than when it was released in 1967.

Cool (heh), I have 4 of the top 5 - missing only the Stones.

After that, however, my collection is apparently not so cool - as I have only Revolver, 1999, Odelay and Howlin' Wolf.

As soul goes (coming from a white guy anyway) it doesn't get any better than Otis Redding for my money, however James Browns "Live at The Apollo" is as good as any album ever made....I defy anyone to listen to that album and not "groove" to the music.....just awesome.
As for the list.....yeah yeah whatever....any list that includes "The Strokes" (especially a "cool" list) automatically negates itself. I've got some of those albums but I wouldn't shell out one red cent for some of the others....

Section 423, The Zone.....where vocal cords go to die!

BRING BACK THE LSU SERIES!!

"Jealous Again," the first single from Shake Your Money Maker, was a moderate hit but it was the band's cover of Otis Redding's "Hard to Handle" that made the group a multi-platinum success. "Hard to Handle" climbed its way into the Top 40, propelling the album into the Top Ten.

I have none of those.

Ok, I know this is a totally subjective category, and I will always have disagreements, but...

This list is freaking awful.

Tool I agree. Anytime you list two "K-Tel type" Various Artist albums you know there is agenda.

Maybe the two clowns that came up with this list own K-Tel stock.

One other thing I love a lot of the artist on the list, especally Otis Redding. But I do not own a single one of the albums either.

my favorite is still "Dock of the Bay".

I did see Otis Day & the Knights once, good show.

Dock of the Bay was recorded shortly before REdding died in a plance crash. Was not released until after the crash.

Maybe "cool" is defined by age?

I find many of these choices to be great, but I'm older than 23.

The Strokes and Bjork???

That right there takes away any credibility.

What about Morris Day and the Time. Jungle of love is the greatest song ever.
Southlake

No, "Dark Side of the Moon"???

What's cooler than that? One of the few albums every generation agrees is supercool!
Racer X
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I understand this list isn't the best albums, but c'mon... if those are the albums RS dubs as "cool", then RS is not "cool" in my opinion.

This is the coolest music I have ever heard: Miles Davis, In A Silent Way, 1969. IT'S #29! Outrageous.

It's amazing this one didn't make the list:

It's cool, I've posted this one before and they didn't do anything:

RS hasn't been cool in a very, very long time. Frankly I'm suprised there were no appearances by Creed, Backstreet, N'Suck or Britney in their list.

They are Tiger Beat without the pull out posters of today's "hottest" teen stars.
Gunner90'
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Wow, I have none of those. And I wish I had only three or four of them. At least I'm cool with Sinatra, the Beatles, Blondie and Joy Division.

This list is completely invalid. No AC/DC Back in Black. Eat SH*T AND DIE Rolling Stone p*ssies.
Vander
How long do you want to ignore this user?
How the hell could they not put Nirvana on that list? Or instead of putting Thriller from Michael Jackson on the list they put, Off the Wall.

And what the hell is with the Stokes? The suck.

No Jimi Hendrix, No Elvis Pressly, no Pearl Jam.

Rolling Stone, loses all credibility in my mind with that list.
Blak Jak Balla

No Blak Jak Balla?

It's been a long time. Long time.
